GEORGE BEST Unusual programme Blinkers United v All Stars X1 9th November 1969 at Belle Vue Stadium. This was a Charity match when Best managed a team of females including his Danish girlfriend Eva Haralsted and many players' wives. The All star side include such notable characters as Malcolm Allison, Tony Blackburn, Bill Grundy, Stuart Hall, Dave Lee Travis, Kenny Lynch, Pete Murray, Michael Parkinson and Emperor Roscoe. Also included in the lot is a 4 page Topical times leaflet signed by George Best, Mike Summerbee, Colin Bell and John Sjoberg of Leicester. Generally good

WILLIAM MORRIS AFTER EDWARD BURNE-JONES Venus Coming from The Sea; Venus; Cupid's First Sight of Psyche; and Venus; a group of four woodblocks for 'Earthly Paradise', 10 x 8cm (im) (X2), 11 x 8cm (im) and 10 x 5.5cm, mounted but unframed (4) 'In 1865 William Morris was full of the project of 'The Earthly Paradise' for which work he purposed an elaborate scheme of illustrations to be engraved after Burne-Jones's drawings... Morris used to work on his own account upon the engraving of these designs in the evenings after business hours. Eight or nine were cut by others......but the majority of the engravings were the work of Morris's own hand. A few impressions only were printed, of which a limited number of sets are yet extant in private possession. A rare Morris Marshall Faulkner & Co embroidered velvet bell pull probably designed by William Morris or Ford Madox Brown, embroidered in silk with flowers and foliage in green, white, brown and white on an olive green ground, 260 x 10.5cm. Provenance Decorative Arts Phillips Glasgow, Friday 6th October 1995, page 20 lot 103. part of a collection by or associated with Morris & Company, formed between the wars and purchased from Morris & Co. in Hanover Square, London. Private collection. Literature Linda Parry (editor) William Morris Philip Wilson/Victoria & Albert Museum, 1996, page 239 catalogue number M.13 for an identical bell-pull dated to circa 1865. This example is believed to be one of the examples mentioned in his household account book as ' two sets of worsted bell ropes'.
