India, 19th-early 20th century AD. Cast bronze tribal figure of the Hindu god Ganesh with applied decoration, seated and holding a stick and bell. 139 grams, 81mm (3 1/4"). From a large London collection; formed between 1980-late 1990s. Made in the Bastar region of central India [No Reserve] Fine condition.
10th-18th century AD. A mixed group of finds, many with collector's notes concerning date and findspot, comprising: a Charles I farthing; a17th century trade token of Iohn Garnner; a 17th century trade token of Christo dated 1659; a gilt-bronze harness pendant and plaque; a harness pendant; a belt fitting; a coin weight; a George III farthing; a gilt-bronze mount; a crotal bell. 121 grams total, bell: 48mm (2"). Found Lincolnshire, UK. PAS references: LIN-B883D1 (farthing); LIN-E6E477 (token); LIN-6F6C54 (token"). [10, No Reserve] Fine condition.
A late 19c French mantle clock in waisted red boullework case with gilt brass feet and mounts, surmounted by a putto holding a blazing brand aloft. The glazed brass front door has the figure of a cherub on its lower edge and the embossed gilded brass dial is inset with blue enamel hour and five minute plaques. The movement is rack striking on a bell and has a sunburst pendulum, the clock stands 19" tall.
A late 19c French mantel clock in waisted red boullework case with gilded brass feet and mounts and surmounted by an urn of flowers. The embossed gilded brass dial is inset with enamel Roman numeral plaques and has a gilded bezel and a convex glass. The movement is rack striking on a bell and has a sunburst pendulum, 13.5" tall overall.
A mid 18c thirty hour longcase clock, the 12" square brass dial signed Richard Midgeley (probably Halifax). The dial has floral spandrels to the corners, a date ring, dummy winding holes and a Halifax penny moon above the centre with a separate aperture indicating the day of the moon. The chapter ring has Roman numerals and outer Arabic five minute numbers. The hands are unmatched steel, the movement is chain driven with countwheel striking on a bell. It is contained in a tall oak case which has been heavily re-carved at a later date. The hood has a flat top with broad outstanding top moulding and turned columns flanking the dial, the trunk has a long rectangular trunk door. The base has an inset rectangular panel and a wavy plinth, from the top moulding to plinth the whole is profusely covered in Victorian carving, 87" tall overall.
CITY-UNITED CRICKET 68 Scorecard for cricket match at Lancashire CCC, Manchester City v Manchester United, 21/7/68, Football League Champions v European Cup holders. Played in aid of the Ken Higgs Benefit Fund and quite possibly the only known example of crowd trouble at a cricket match as City and United fans clashed. The scorecard has a fold but no writing as Bell, Lee and Summerbee etc took on Charlton, Best and Kidd. City won scoring 168 runs to Uniteds total of 79 and the crowd was 15,000 which contributed handsomely to the benefit fund. Unfortunately the crowd trouble ensured that the cricket game was not repeated in future years. Good
