Lot 1945

A 19th century French ormolu half hour striking mantel clock, the case with a urn finial with removable cover, with ram's masks and foliate swags, on a fluted arched top, fluted side pilasters with pineapple finials and a bow ended base with egg and dart moulded toupie feet, the body inset with Sevres style porcelain mounts and dial on a puce ground, the gilt Roman dial with a central painted panel depicting a putti in flight, the eight day movement signed Henry Bright of Leamington, no. 11877 and striking the hours and half hours on a bell, 13.75in (35cm) high. The minute hand has snapped off and is detached (but present). Porcelain panels all in good condition. Encrusted dirt to case and would benefit from careful cleaning. There is also some wear and tarnishing to the gilt in places. Chip to edge of glass on movement door. Winds, runs and strikes correctly.

Lot 1946

A 19th century French rosewood, faux-rosewood and marquetry portico clock by Troup à Paris, the signed, 4in. white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals, within a gilt brass bezel, fronting a signed, twin barrel, bell strike movement with outside countwheel strike, the case with serpentine pediment on faux-rosewood barleytwist columns, on a reel moulded plinth base, 20¼in. (51.5cm.) high, faults. Requires some restoration. The movement is not running - the pendulum spring is missing and the guide is bent. The clock does strike correctly. The minute hand is broken off (although present). Repaired chip to dial at XII and chipping to edge & crack at six. The case is dirty, with minor veneer chips to edges and dulled polish.

Two gilt brass carriage clocks with alarms for restoration, both requiring work, one French, early 20th century, with corniche case, single train movement, white Roman enamel dial with subsidiary alarm dial, with morocco travelling case; the other by Matthew Norman of London, c.1980. with leather travelling case and instruction booklet. (2) - French: Winds but runs only briefly. Alarm lacks bell from beneath case and alarm rings repeatedly when wound, so requires work. Large chip to top left of dial and hairline below alarm. Movement door lacks knob and has small chip top left of glass. Top handle detached from morocco case. - M. Norman: Not running, but alarm does function correctly. Escapement looks encrusted with dust and dirt, so may simply need cleaning. Case dirty with brass polish residue. 1½in. crack to top of dial. Leather case lacks handle. Neither clock has a key.

An extremely rare Worcester mug, circa 1756-58Of bell shape with a grooved loop handle, finely painted in blue with an unusual version of the 'Beckoning Chinaman' pattern, the robed gentleman with his left hand raised, a boy carrying a quiver also pointing to a flock of birds in the sky above, the reverse with budding prunus issuing from the rocky landscape, 11.7cm high, TF workman's mark as well as a letter 'P'Footnotes:Whilst the 'Beckoning Chinaman' is one of the best-known patterns on Worcester mugs and tankards, it is invariably painted in bright overglaze enamels. This mug appears to be the only known example of the pattern painted in underglaze blue. The usual famille rose spray or secondary figure subject seen on the reverse of the enamelled mugs has been replaced with a continuous landscape of rocks and budding prunus. Another interesting variation seen on this blue and white example is the young attendant, who carries a quiver not seen in the polychrome versions of the pattern, suggesting that the artist interpreted this scene as the moment before the hunt.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Fronting an eight-day five pillar weight-driven movement with countwheel strike on a bell and anchor escapement. The case with applied pillars and long trunk door on a plinth base.215cm highThe movement and dial belong to each other, the movement is complete and has brass weights and a pendulum, it is dirty and would require a service to get function correctly, there are moulding and veneers which have become loose in the hood, these are present. the trunk door is slightly warped and has a missing piece of moulding, the base is original but has a replaced plinth.

It retains all of its original gilding but would benefit from a clean. The marble is also in good condition. The pendulum is original and there are no cracks or chips to the dial. Verge escapement with fine shaped and fret-cut engraved brass pendulum cock, hour strike on a single bell and pull quarter repeat on a series of six bells - the signed backplate with fine scroll leaf engraved all over decoration within a herring banded border. The rounded caddy top case with elaborate cast gilt brass folding handle above a cross grain veneered border and matching plinth base raised on leafcast shallow brass bun feet, with partly fret-cut and long glazed side panels.38.5cm high handle downThe case is in good original condition with nice colour and patina, and the movement and dial are original to the case. The gilded dial is in good condition, and the movement is complete but the fusee gut has snapped on both trains so will require attention, all bells are present and have the original verge escapement. The bell staff and hour strike bell have been replaced, there are 2 vacant holes where the original bell staff would've been attached, and no other plugged holes.

In good overall condition. The inner edge of the front frame has some losses to the left side. The dial has no chips, just a possibly repaired crack to the top corner. the movement ticks when wound on the original escapement. the movement is dirty and will require a clean and service. We do not guarantee mechanical parts or functionality.

It is lacking a pendulum, seatboard and weights. The calendar wheel is loose and the silvering is discolored to the chapter rings.
