Wallace of Dublin An Irish Percussion from Flintlock Blunderbuss by Wallace, Dublin, c1795. Brass two-stage 15½” bell-mouthed brass barrel, with proved octagonal breech, inscribed ‘Dublin’ and stamped with Irish census F 7883, the forward section with extra facets, transitioning to round and culminating with a flared mouth of 1.17”, with 14” bayonet released by thumb catch on breech tang. Bevelled flat lock signed ‘Wallace’. Walnut stock with brass mounts, butt-plate also stamped with census and t/guard with acorn finial. Ramrod missing. Overall length 31¼” GWO.

Local Interest - a pair of salvaged oak table candlesticks, campana sconces, bobbin and ring turned pillars, each base with a label, 'This article is made of oak from the old bell frame of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Derby . The date on the beam is 1687, this being the time when "the bells were rehung by John Baxter of Laxton, Northamptonshire, Bellhanger, the same being undertaken by George Sorocold, Gentleman". The ten bells were rehung on a steel frame by Messers Taylors of Loughborough, October 1927', later fitted as table lamps, 31cm high, c.1927
