He was an apprentice in 1674 and a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1682. A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Nathaniel Brown, Manchester, circa 1780, swan neck pediment, trunk door flanked by wood stop fluted pilasters, 13-inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, moonphase aperture signed on a silvered plaque, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 226cm high see illustration 10.10.17, Case has been cleaned, hood with small chips in parts, front panels have been re-painted, left hand side of the trunk with one crack, plinth sides with cracks, right hand side of the plinth with a small piece of wood replaced, later feet, dial is discoloured and needs cleaning, movement is complete, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, with pendulum and two weights.
A Good Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, case possibly by Gillows, signed Finney, Liverpool, circa 1780, swan neck pediment with three brass ball finials, gilt scroll decorated eglomise glass panels, hood with four fluted columns, well figured trunk door with book mark flame veneers, flanked by inset fluted pilasters, later ogee feet, 13-inch arched brass dial with a silvered chapter ring with inner date ring, finely matted centre with seconds dial and signed on a silvered plaque, moonphase in the arch and inscribed above on a silvered plaque ''The Man is Yet Unborn, Who duly Weighs an hour'', four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 257cm high see illustration 16.10.17, Hood with one chip to one glass panel and one small piece of panel missing from the top corner, trunk is very slightly faded, trunk right hand side with small scratches and one small chip to the back edge, dial and movement are clean, with pendulum and two weights.

Brass steam locomotive whistle complete with valve and operating lever, stands 11.5in tall and the bell diameter is 2.5in. These are often sold as a Bagnall type whistle but are thought to be used on Steam cranes as well. It was acquired by the vendors late father from the Railway at Darlington so it might have come from one of their steam cranes. In full working condition.
