A Brass Striking Lantern Clock, four posted movement with verge escapement and outside countwheel striking on a top mounted bell, bob pendulum, 4-1/2 inch Roman numeral chapter ring, engraved dial plate, alarm disc, pierced frets appearing to depict cockerels, lacking alarm work, possibly Continental, part 17th century and later, 31cm high 01.02.13, Case with later parts and some 17th Century parts, in my opinion the later parts are the engraved dial plate, chapter ring, alarm disc, single hand, train wheels and verge escapement, bob pendulum, spurs, and side doors appear later, converted back to verge, lacking alarm work, extra vacant holes in the movement top plate, in my opinion the 17th Century parts are the brass top bell mount holding the bell, possibly the pierced frets and the four posted brass frame. Possibly Continental.

A Rare 17th Century Striking Lantern Clock, signed and dated Tho Tue de L`inn Fecit Dece`br ye 5th 1663, (made in King`s Lynn), four posted movement with verge escapement and balance wheel control (re-instated ?), outside countwheel striking on a top mounted bell, pierced galleried frets depicting sea creatures, 6-1/2 inch silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with star-on-a-stalk half hour markers, lacking alarm disc, dial plate centre with engraved scroll decoration and signed and dated, single iron hand, alarm work now lacking, 42cm high, with a later oak wall bracket Thomas Tue (1613-1710) is recorded as working in King`s Lynn. He was one of the first clockmakers to work in Norfolk and by 1646 he purchased his freedom to trade in King`s Lynn in 1662, though he worked there before 1662 as at least three of his clocks are dated before that year (1646, 1649, 1655). He dated most of his clocks conveniently in a visible place on the dial. This clock is illustrated in two books. See Loomes (Brian) Lantern Clocks & Their Makers, pg.247 and Loomes (Brian) Complete British Clocks, pg..22 & 23. 01.02.13, Brass surfaces are faded and look dirty, silvering faded to the chapter ring, top mounted bell has been cracked at some time and has been restored and this can be seen when looking inside the bell, bell support and top finial are later added, movement top plate with five small vacant holes and a small plugged hole next to the balance wheel cock, balance wheel control possibly re-instated and converted back from anchor?, movement now lacking all the alarm work, alarm disc is now missing for the centre of the dial, crown wheel arbor appears to have been replaced, spike pulleys look to have been replaced, bottom movement plate with a crack, iron back sheet is missing, top plate with three small vacant holes to the backside, bottom movement plate backside with two vacant holes, back iron loop is missing, chains/ropes are missing, later weight.

A Dutch Stoelklok Polychrome Painted Striking Alarm Wall Clock, unsigned, polychrome painted dial depicting winged figures and central painted landscape scene, Roman and Arabic chapter ring, moonphase aperture, painted side winged lead figures, cast metal top shield and lion cresting, four post movement with verge escapement, striking on a top mounted ball and on another smaller bell for the alarm, side opening doors, 52cm high, with polychrome painted oak wall bracket with unusual painted side figural ears, 74cm high 31.01.13, Dial with flaking to painted surfaces, wall bracket with paint flaking to the surfaces, side door with glass missing, movement needs cleaning, overall this item needs restoration.

A Walnut Striking Table Clock, arched case with brass and ebony inlay, pierced side sound frets, raised on brass ball feet, 7-inch painted dial with Roman numerals and inscribed Barraud Cornhill London 926, twin fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking on a bell, backplate with engraved borders and inscribed Barrauds Cornhill London, secured with brackets, 43cm high 29.01.13, Case has been totally restored, ball feet have been replaced, dial has been totally re-painted, movement looks clean, due to the total restoration of the clock I have not dated this item. Case is heavily restored or is of a later construction.

An Ebonised Striking Table Clock, signed Willm Rust, Hull, circa 1790, inverted bell top with carrying handle, pierced side sound frets, mask and floral gilt metal mounts to the canted corners, 9-inch arched painted dial with Roman chapter ring, painted gilt floral decoration to the corners and in the arch, arch with fast/slow selection hand, twin fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking on a bell, backplate signed, 60cm over handle 28.01.13, Case with scratches and small dents in parts, front door with some cracks and chips to the veneers and some of the veneers have been repaired, back door slightly bowed and chips around the borders of the door, dial surface has been totally re-painted at some time to a high standard, dial surface with some small crazing marks and minor scratches and a small dirt mark at 3, movement looks clean and complete.

A Regency Mahogany Striking Table Clock, H Smith, York, with chamfered top, side sound frets and carrying handles, brass inlaid front, 8-inch painted convex dial with Roman numerals, twin fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking on a bell, movement backplate engraved to the borders, 54cm high (distressed) 29.01.13, Case is distressed and needs restoration, veneers missing, cracks and chips in places, brass surfaces have all faded, top with mouldings missing to edges, case has discoloured with sunlight damage, top finial is later, dial faded and flaking throughout, movement looks complete, not striking at present, this is a restoration project for someone.

A Mahogany Chiming Table Clock, signed Webster, established 1711, Queen Victoria St, London, circa 1880, inverted bell top with carrying handle and ball finials, scroll and floral pierced side sound frets, bracket feet, 4-3/4-inch dial with Roman numeral chapter ring, dial centre signed, silent/chime and 8 bells/5 gong selection levers, above with fast/slow regulation dial, triple fusee movement with eight hammers chiming onto eight bells and four hammers striking four gongs and a further hammer striking a larger gong for the hours, movement secured with brackets, 43cm high over handle 16.01.13, Case metal mounts are all discoloured to the surfaces with the gilding rubbed, case with some small cracks to the sides and to the top side between the finials, front door is slightly bowed and the lock is missing, back door edge has split and has been repaired but not very well and needs attention, some edges around the inner part of the back door with chips and dents to the door edges, dial has discoloured in parts, movement is dirty and needs cleaning.

A Regency Mahogany Striking Table Clock, in Egyptian Revival Taste, Yeomans, Nottingham, with gadroon pediment and pineapple finial, pierced side sound frets, gilt metal sphinx canted corners, gadrooned feet, 7-inch painted dial with Roman numerals, twin fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking on bell, 49cm high The design of this clock shows the fashion of the Regency period, with furniture influenced by Rome, Greece and Egypt being very much ``en vogue``. The interest in Egypt revival taste dates back to Napoleon`s expedition of 1798, which lead to the publication of Dominique Vivant Denon`s Vogage dans la basse et la haute Egypt in 1802. Furniture in this style was first shown by Sheraton in his Encyclopedia (1804), leading to its increased popularity. 30.01.13, Case surfaces has been cleaned, edges around the case with some small dents and chips, gilt metal has faded, dial has been totally re-painted, movement looks complete and clean.

An Ebonised Striking Table Clock, inverted bell top with carrying handle, side viewing windows, 7-inch arched brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with date aperture and mock pendulum with silvered plaque bearing inscription Jasp Taylor London, arch with strike/silent selection, twin fusee movement with verge escapement and striking on a bell, engraved scrolled backplate inscribed Jasper Taylor Holborn London, movement secured by brackets, 50cm high over handle 28.01.13, Case has been re-ebonised a some time, some moulding around the case have been replaced and cracking to some veneers, right hand side glass panel has broken, some chips to edges and some flaking to the ebonised surfaces in parts and new pieces of wood added, arch with silvered dial faded, movement needs cleaning, striking is functioning, striking side of the movement at the top of the front plate with one vacant hole which is directly in line with a dial foot on the dial plate which has been cut off and filed back. (The dial could have possibly been later added to the movement due to the vacant hole to the movement frontplate).

A Rare Mahogany Quarter Striking Table Clock, signed Eardley Norton, London, No.2723, circa 1770, inverted bell top with pineapple finial, pierced side sound frets, raised on bracket feet, 8-inch arched brass dial with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, inner date ring with corresponding central date hand, signed and numbered to the centre, arch with strike/silent selection, twin fusee movement with verge escapement and quarter striking with two hammers striking onto two bells, backplate engraved with floral and scroll decoration and numbered 2723 to the top right, movement secured with brackets, 65cm high 29.01.13, Case with damage around sound frets and pieces of veneer replaced, veneer to back door is lighter in colour to the rest of the case and could be later added veneer or door, Front door has been restored in parts to the veneers and some small cracks, finials to the inverted top look later added, case surface has been polished, dial with small scratches and the silvering has faded, movement looks complete and striking at present.

A Fine George III Musical Mahogany Striking Table Clock, signed Willm Mason, London, circa 1770, inverted bell top case, side carrying handles and pierced sound fret opening doors, applied gilt metal mask and floral mounts to the canted corners, raised on bracket feet, 8-inch arched brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with date aperture and signed silvered recessed plaque Willm Mason London, arch with four tune selection dial God Save Ye King/Home Sweet Home/Vicar Of Bray/Tom Bowling, triple fusee movement with anchor escapement, the pinned comb controlling eleven hammers striking a nest of eleven bells for the musical train every hour and followed by a further hammer striking a single bell for the hours, movement backplate engraved with basket, scroll and bird decoration, secured with brackets, 58cm high 27.02.13, Case with some pieces of veneer missing to the door, case with some small dents and crack marks in places, some mouldings around the case with chips and are slightly lifting, some small pieces of veneer has been added later, back door very slightly bowed, dials need re-silvering and brass dial plate needs cleaning, movement needs cleaning, hour striking bell post has broken and not striking on a bell at present, front plate with a small hole which has been plugged next to the anchor arbor pivot, converted to anchor from verge, the musical tunes all appear to be working at present, The home sweet home tune appears to have been added in the early 19th century which the pins to the pinned comb would have had to be slightly re-positioned on the comb.

A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, Jno Oakes, Oldham, circa 1810, swan neck pediment, arched trunk door, canted plinth raised upon bracket feet, 14-inch arched painted dial with Arabic and Roman chapter ring, seconds and date dials, arch with rolling moonphase, four pillar movement with attached falseplate stamped William Whitaker, anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 232cm high 25.01.13, Case has been restored at some time throughout but to a high standard, all finials are missing to the hood, some edges with small chips and dents in places, bracket feet look replaced, dial has been totally re-painted at some time to a high standard, movement looks all complete.

A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed R Northern, Hull, circa 1830, pagoda top pediment, Corinthian capped columns, unusual stepped trunk door, plinth with inlaid stringing and raised upon later feet, 13-inch painted arched dial with Roman numeral chapter, centre with seconds, date aperture, arch with painted seascape of ships and a rolling moonphase, four pillar movement with attached falseplate stamped S Wilke Birmingham, anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, later seatboard, 236cm high 31.01.13, Hood has been restored and some new pieces of wood have been added, hood door is bowed, hood door glass is cracked, trunk door is bowed, feet are later added, some dents and chips in parts, dial with seconds hole worn, two dial pins are missing from movement, movement needs cleaning, later seatboard.

A Mahogany Chiming Longcase Clock, signed Denton Northgraves, Hull, circa 1795, pagoda pediment, Corinthian capped inlaid pilasters, plinth inlaid with an urn, 13-inch arched painted dial, inner date ring with centre date hand, seconds, arch with painted seascape, triple weight driven movement with anchor escapement, eight hammers quarter chiming onto a nest of eight bells, a further hammer striking a larger bell for the hour, 260cm high 31.01.13, Case has been polished throughout to the surfaces, possibly later inlay throughout, case with cracking to veneers in places and small dents in parts, re-gilded mounts, hood restored, dial totally re-painted but to a high standard, movement looks complete.

An Oak Eight Day Longcase Clock, Geo Brown Beverly, circa 1820, pagoda pediment, arched trunk door, upon later bracket feet, 12-inch arched painted dial, centre with seconds and date, arch painted with floral decoration, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, later seatboard, 222cm high 31.01.13, Case with some chips and scuff marks to the surfaces in parts, later seatboard, hood with finials missing, later added veneers in parts, later bracket feet, dial has been totally re-painted but to a high standard, dial with crazing marks, movement needs cleaning, pendulum and both weights are missing.

A Small Mahogany Longcase Clock, swan neck pediment, wavy shaped trunk door with side pilasters, plinth with raised quatre form panel, 6-inch square brass dial, centre later inscribed Johanes Walley de Bolton Fecit, weight driven four pillar movement with anchor escapement and striking on a bell, 146cm high 31.01.13, Case with signs of repair behind swan neck pediment, bottom side of the case has been damaged due to sunlight, back right hand side foot is missing, glass panel to the hood with small cracks, dial is later inscribed Johanes Walley de Bolton Fecit, movement frontplate with vacant holes, both weights and the pendulumv are missing.

A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Samuel Collings, Downing, swan neck pediment, trunk door with inlaid stringing, plinth raised upon bracket feet, 12-inch arched brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, dial centre engraved with figures leaning against a clock, date aperture and signed, centre seconds, arch with rolling moonphase and engraved above with High Watch At Bristol Key, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, dial and movement circa 1770, case later, 220cm high 01.02.13, Case is faded throughout to the surfaces, dial wooden surround is replaced, case sides with cracks, dial and movement look complete and clean, (dial and movement circa 1770, case of a later date).

A Late 17th Century Thirty Hour Longcase Clock Dial and Movement, signed Charles Tolly, Londini Fecit, circa 1690, with flat top pediment, barley twist columns, side viewing windows, moulded edged trunk door, crossbanded plinth and bun feet, 10-inch square brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring, dial plate signed below 6, matted centre with date aperture, winged cherub spandrels, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking (bell missing), dial and movement circa 1690, modern case, 194cm high 16.01.13, Case is modern and has been made for the dial and movement to fit, case with veneers lifting in parts and lacking, dial needs cleaning and re-silvering, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, bell is missing, pendulum and weight missing.

A Pine Eight Day Half Hour Passing Strike Longcase Clock, signed Isaac Papavoine, Dukes Court, London, circa 1710, case with a flat top pediment, side viewing windows, trunk door with lenticle, 12-inch square brass dial with silvered Roman numeral chapter ring signed, matted centre with seconds and date aperture, five pillar movement with anchor escapement and half hour passing strike on a bell and a further hammer striking a bell for the hours, 207cm high 30.01.13, Case has been restored, all surfaces have been highly polished, hood with a later added fret to the front, dents and scratches, moulding around the trunk door has been replaced, wooden dial surround has been replaced, dial and movement look clean.
