A French Bronze Ormolu Striking Mantel Clock, circa 1830, case is depicting a figure of a lady holding a child and looking towards a bust of a centurion, base with applied mounts, 3-inch Roman numeral dial, twin barrel movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, silk suspension, 38cm high see illustration   14.10.19  Ormolu surfaces are discoloured, bell nut missing, case is slightly dirty in parts, movement is striking and in going order, with pendulum.

Pendulum needs repairing.

The race gets its name from the bell which was presented to the winner, the oldest of which is copied here, having originally been given by Lady Dacre.
