Roger Dunster is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in London circa 1700, Loomes in Vol. 2 lists him moving to Amsterdam in 1722 where he went into partnership with Christopher Clarke (successor to the Fromanteel family) until 1730, he then worked alone until he died in 1747. The fact that the trunk door is veneered in fruitwood beneath the current lacquer work indicates that the case was originally ebonised, the chinoiserie decoration was probably added in the early 19th century.

David Nicholas is recorded in Moore, A.J. The Clockmakers of Somerset 1650-1900 as working in West Harptree 1717-32.

The movement and dial are almost certainly by Edward Bilbie III who, according to Moore, Rice & Hucker in Bilbie and The Chew Valley Clock Makers is recorded as working 1736-86.

A rare cast turret clock/church bell Bilbie, Cullompton, dated 1807 The exterior with ring decoration and inscribed DANL BARBER ESQ 1807, BILBIE CULLOMPTON FECIT beneath cast suspension loops, 42cm high, 45cm diameter. This bell was cast by Thomas Castleman Bilbie who is recorded in Moore, Rice & Hucker Bilbie and The Chew Valley Clockmakers as working in Cullompton 1781-1814. He was invited by Cullompton churchwardens to make a new clock for the church in 1811 for which he charged £55-0-0.

A well engineered American style 4-4-0 Railroad locomotive and tender Major North No 7, similar in design to the David Piddington model with finely spoked wheels in American gauge approximately 3 1/2 inches between wheels.. The copper boiler with fittings including water and pressure gauge, safety valve, whistle and bell. The chassis detail including twin outside cylinders approximately 1 in bore x 2in stroke. Valve gear, polished brightwork motion, wooden running boards, polished brass cow catcher, polished brass front lamp. Cab controls with regulator, pressure gauge, sight glass. The locomotive finished in black livery W & ARR with fitted steps and hand rails. The tender with water tank and firing wood. Length 38 inches (97cm). Mounted on display track.

A well engineered 4 1/2 inch scale model of a Burrell Road Locomotive, the engine with almost new steel boiler with fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety, blower, injector, whistle, clack and other valves. Engine details include single cylinder approximately 3 inch bore by 4 1/2 inch stroke, mechanical lubricator, Stephensons link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, two road speeds, Pickering style governor, whistle and spoked flywheel. Chassis details include spoked wheels with solid rubber road tyres and polished brass hub caps, cable drum and fairleads, water lifter, hand brake and footboards. The model is finished in green and black paintwork with red wheels and polished brightwork. The engine has some items not completed including linkage to hand operated brake. The boiler would appear to have never been steam and was made by Franklin Bell of Gloucester Number FB455 and hydraulically tested to 240 psi on the 17th of August 2001 by Watkins Engineering Ltd of Gloucester. No current steam test. The engine formed part of the collection of the late Ronald Phipps of Kent. Length 188cm. Width 79cm.

Restoration to case.
