77th Foot (East Middlesex) Officer’s bell topped shako plate circa 1829-44.A splendid rare example. Crowned fire gilt star mounted with a silver rope edged circlet inscribed ‘Seringapatam, Cuidad-Rodrigo, Badajoz’ and ornamented with mural crowns. To centre, an applied silver and gilt Prince of Wales' plumes over the numerals ‘77’ resting within laurel sprays with ‘Peninsula’ scroll across the base. Reverse retains both original horizontal loops. Minor service wear. VGC (KK 69)77th Foot (East Middlesex) became 2nd Bn. Middlesex Regt. in 1881

Large crowned star mounted with facetted silver eight pointed star bearing gilt Garter with scroll inscribed ‘Royal North Gloucester’ across the tail of the Garter; centrally a silver dome with red translucent Cross of St. George. Two horizontal loops to reverse. VGCRaised 22nd August 1860 at Cirencester. Designated “Fusiliers” 1761-96. Became 4th Battalion, Gloucester Regiment on Friday 1st July, 1881.

Large crowned star mounted with silver ornate strung bugle bearing Garter Star with gilt pierced motto on blue enamel ground and central Cross of St. George in red enamel (slightly defective). Beneath the bugle, an ornate ended silver scroll inscribed ‘Royal Sussex’. Two horizontal loops to reverse and one of two pairs of wire behind the crown. VGCRaised 29th June 1778 at Chichester. Redesignated Royal Sussex Light Infantry 1845; became 4th Bn. Royal Sussex Regt. on Friday 1st July 1881.
