1915 Star Trio to Lt Claude Meeson 114th Coy Machine Gun Corps. Commissioned 26th September 1916. Previous 657 19th Battalion (2nd Public Schools) Royal Fusiliers. A solicitor from Battle Bridge, Essex. Educated Lancing College. Lt .Meeson acted as a prisoner's friend (defence) in the trial of Sapper Robert Bell. Sapper Bell was executed for murdering 2nd Lt. W.H.Lloyd on 22nd May 1918. See chapter 11 of 'Murdering Tommies' by Putkowski and Dunning.

Howell & Cie - Paris - a late 19th century ormulu and porcelain mantle clock, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and signed, the eight day movement signed Howell & Cie, Paris, numbered 8340, 4, 6, striking on a bell, the ornate case inset with Sevres style panels, two x keys, pendulum, height 26 cm.
B. Bothamley Boston, a Victorian oak and mahogany longcase clock, the eight day movement striking on a bell, 12" painted arched dial with subsidiary seconds dial, signed, with gilt hands, the trunk with sections in oak and mahogany, the hood with a swan neck pediment, height 210 cm, 1 x key, 2 x weights, pendulum (stamped John Bradley, Stourbridge). The Bothamley family made clocks for at least four generations in and around the town of Boston in Lincolnshire, beginning with William in 1715. Benjamin ( 1799 - 1860) ran the family business from 1826 until 1856, he was succeeded by his son Henry William.
G & F Shacklock, Stanfree, an early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the eight day movement striking on a bell, the 14" arched painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial, signed G & F Shacklock, Stanfree, the mahogany case with brass and boxwood inlay, the hood with a scroll arched pediment, height 235 cm,two x keys, 2 x weights, pendulum. *Godfrey Shacklock was a well known clockmaker and craftsman working in Stanfree, Bolsover, Derbyshire. He is recorded as working from 1795 until at least 1849.
John Dobie - Tanfield, a George III mahogany longcase clock, the eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12" arched painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and revolving ship/night/house/day dial, the hood with bulbous pillars to a boxwood strung trunk, key, pendulum, two weights, height 215cm. John Dobie is known to have worked in Tanfield, Gateshead, from about 1760 to about 1795.
Of Masonic interest - Jonathan Stonehouse - Leeds, an early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the eight day movement striking on a bell, the 16" oval painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial, the upper section with Masonic symbols, the quarters with Faith, Hope, Charity and Family, the swan neck pediment hood to a mahogany and boxwood strung trunk with three shell patera, key, brass and steel compensated pendulum and two weights, height 245 cm. Label to inside of the door listing six members of the Grant family that owned the clock from new until c. 1985 and a list of five clock restorers who have worked on it from 1835 - 1985. Jonathan Stonehouse in known to have worked in Leeds circa 1798 - 1809.
