A brass barrelled percussion blunderbuss with spring bayonet, 31½” overall, bell mouth barrel 16” secured by two barrel wedges, with 14” bayonet released by thumb catch on breech tang; converted from flintlock with breech drum; flat lock with safety bolt, the plate with traces of engraving and maker’s name “Nock”, plain walnut fullstock with engraved brass mounts, including trigger guard with acorn finial; original brass tipped ebony ramrod with worm. GWO & C (lock and hammer pitted, old rivetted repair to stock fracture above trigger guard, slight bulge to breech). (See lot 1243 for illustration).
A scarce ‘The Teddy The Manager’ battery powered tinplate toy, retailed by Cragston (S&E), teddy figure seated at a tinplate desk, figure wearing dark green velvet jacket, black plush head with tinplate eyes and mouth, telephone in left hand and pencil in right, desk with silver finish and litho detailing, mounted on a dark green tinplate base. Wire to another larger telephone for child to use, action bell rings telephone lights up, picks up receiver, hear him talk. Boxed, minor wear for age, toy VGC minor wear. An Italian marble gilt metal and bronze clock garniture, with a pair of candelabra having six branches protruding from marble urn type columns flanking a Regency style clock with eagle-heads above a lyre panel, having signed enamelled convex dial with Roman chapters under glass, the clock flanked by two stylised putti on a marble platform raised on swagged gilt metal base with paw feet, the impressive garniture with German movement striking on bell. A Victorian mantel clock surmounted by a bronzed figure of a lady in repose leaning against the barrel with enamelled dial and Roman chapters having brass bezel, with French numbered movement striking on bell, on an architectural style plinth with applied green variegated marble panels above a rectangular moulded base. An impressive gilt metal clock garniture, the architectural style timepiece flanked by a pair of candelabra with embossed scrolled vases and pierced borders, the clock with enamelled dial having Roman chapters with German movement striking on bell, the candelabra each with six candle nozzles embossed with foliate moulding supported on scrolled hoof feet, all three pieces with applied mask and shell decoration. A 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the hood with broken swan neck pediment and Ionic columns , above a long trunk door, box base and bracket feet, the 35.5 cms dial painted with a Cathedral to the arch and cottages to the spandrels, the dial with Roman numerals, seconds subsidiary dial and calendar dial, the eight day movement striking on a bell, 230 cms high.
An impressive 19th century oak longcase clock, carved to the top with a coat of arms, the hood with caryatid figures, one titled 'youth', the other 'age', with the inscription 'Think as you watch the hours go by that time will end and you will die' dated 1854, above a long trunk door with glazed panels enclosed between Ionic columns, on a geometric panelled base and plinth, the 29 cms square brass dial with silvered chapter ring, seconds subsidiary dial and calendar aperture, inscribed Richard Lowe, Newport, the 8 day movement striking on a bell, 247 cms high.
