A good brass skeleton clock, the silvered dial set with Roman numerals, with fusee movement striking on a bell, height 39cm, presented on ebonised plinth base beneath a glass dome (dome af), with pendulum and key, also a clock face set with Arabic and Roman numerals, purportedly from a clock that hung on a balcony of St Paul's Church before its demolition, diameter 50.7cm (2).Additional InformationDome cracked. Clock does run but no guarantee of working order. Some rubbing to the finish of the dial. Further tarnish, some surface pitting, nicks, cast imperfections, etc, to the brass. The St Paul's clock face has had some details inscribed to the face of the clock by someone. Crazing, rubbing to the detail, staining and discolouration.
JAPY FRERES; a good and large late 19th century French gilt metal eight day mantel clock with jewelled and pierced porcelain lidded surmount and dial, set with Roman numerals, striking on a bell, presented beneath a clear glass dome on stepped and gilt base to ebonised plinth, the clock height 41cm, width 27.3cm, depth 17cm, with key and pendulum.Additional InformationThere is no guarantee of working order, no visible marks, there is some tarnish, discolouration and rubbing to the decoration, some loss to enamelled jewels particularly to the lid of the urn, scuffs and scrapes to the gilt base, particularly to the corners, the ebonised plinth heavily worn with splits and rubbing to ebonised finish, the glass dome with the usual nibbles and fritting to the base, otherwise some overall dirt and dust.

A late 19th century French rouge marble and black slate mantel clock, the white enamelled dial set with Roman numerals housing an eight day movement with Slow/Fast button, width 44.5cm, sold with pendulum and winding key.Additional InformationScratches to the glass and a couple of tiny surface scratches to the white enamel. The case itself is basically in good order, it strikes on a bell. Not guaranteed to be in working order. It is not running, feels close to being over wound, cannot test further, does not appear to be any damage to the springs, but asume the movement will need attention and restoration.

A late 19th/early 20th century mahogany small longcase with brass mounted broken swan neck pediment above painted dial inscribed 'Bullock, Bath', set with Roman numerals, subsidiary date aperture and with eight day movement above long door, plinth base and bracket feet, height 141cm.Additional InformationThe dial has been completely repainted, there are a few flecks of veneer which have been repaired to the case and some old restorations to the case throughout, it is possible the lower plinth and bracket foot section has been added at a later date. The whole clock has been restored and polished at some stage. The movement strikes to a bell.

She was the wife of the biographer Leslie Stephen and mother of Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell, members of the Bloomsbury Group.An identical, but smaller print to this, was part of the famous ‘Signor 1857’ photograph album that Julia Margaret Cameron composed as inspiration, before endeavouring in the art of photography herself.The album of 35 photographs was sold at Sotheby’s on December 12 2012 for £121,000.Condition report: the first print is in excellent condition with just a few old creases, the second photograph has a number of losses along with small tears and a pin hole to the middle top, both have pencil numbers to reverse 2 on the first and 5 on the second --- see detailed additional images

Caribbean anthropology - a Queen Conch shell hand tool, from the columella (inner spiral section) of Queen Conch (Strombus gigas), collected c.1920. old collection label inscribed 'Three Houses Estate in Barbadoes. Gouge Carib, from Columella of Strobus Gigas/Donor Mr Berkeley Barbadoes..../1920', 15cmCONDITION: Provenance - T Gerrard & Co Ltd, Pentonville Road, preparators, technicians and modellers of London were involved, amongst other things, in biology, osteology and entomology.Similar hand-held tools made from the columella (inner spiral section) of Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) shells originating from Barbados were collected by colonial administrator, Sir Henry Hesketh Bell in either 1882 or 1883, while he was working in the office of the Governor of Barbados, and form part of a larger set of hand-held tools collected by Bell which include axe-heads, scrapers and hammers. Similar conch tools, labelled as originating from Barbados, are held in the Wisbech Museum.
