A c1840 mahogany cased longcased clock with reeded columned and moulded decoration, inlaid and scalloped door with brass escutheon the hood being scrolled with brass embellishment. The eight day movement has foreplate inscribed 'Wilson' and striking on a bell. The painted dial showing craquelure, is hand painted with flowers, has date aperture and secondary seconds dial, boldly painted Roman Numerals, brass hands and signed 'Winstanley Holywell'.
A modern reproduction of the `Lanark Silver Bell` Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh 1975, the conventionally shaped bell with closed base, with cast foliate decorative suspender and loop suspension, the body engraved with coat of arms of Lanark and to reverse `Replica of Lanark Silver Bell, won by`, the whole suspended from an open work frame with curved supports with trefoil terminals, on a spreading circular base 21.5cm high, 24oz Notes; the original Lanark bell was originally run for circa 1608 - 1611 and was made in Edinburgh by Hugh Lindsay. It now forms part of the rare early survival of Scottish sporting prizes and is the earliest Scottish horse racing trophy known. it now sits on a stand which supports around its rim medals dating from 1628 - 1977.
