A. & N. Naftel Guernsey`, with later applied brass spandrels, set to the arch with a strike/silent subsidiary, the case with deep cornice over a fan inlaid hood with Doric columns and a long trunk with matching fan inlay and central shell inlay, on a conforming base, 80in. (203cm.) high.

Purchased by the present vendor from ‘Le Cadeau Impossible’, Montreaux, Switzerland in 1995 (sold with a handwritten receipt on a compliments slip for Swiss Francs 4,900 and an Italian ministry of transport certificate for the motor). Known to be one of a very limited edition, believed by the vendor to be two only.

The 8 day movement with 13" brass dial, pierced mask and scroll spandrels, brass chapter ring with black Roman numerals, subsidiary date aperture, the dead beat escapement striking on a bell, the hood with broken swan neck pediment, the case all over inlaid with herring bone cross banding and satin wood stringing, the base with inlaid patera. 211cm aprox
