Thomas Watts of Lavenham - an 18th century brass wall clock, having an arched dial with signed silvered disc to the arch, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, alarm dial, single pierced blue steel hand, cast brass mask spandrels, weight driven 30-hour striking verge movement (lacking bell), the whole housed in later oak case, dial w.5", h.7"Haggar & Miller's Suffolk Clocks & Clockmakers lists two Thomas Watts of Lavenham, being father and son. The father 1694-1741 and the son 1729-1777. It is often not possible to distinguish their clocks from one another, however Thomas Watts Jnr was the more prolific maker of the two, and he is reputed to have made the Lavenham church clock in 1775.

Wooden, full stock richly inlaid with filigree with silver floral motifs; silver, engraved mounts, butt's back with crescent, the counter-plate pierced with a snake and with iron, saddle crossbar decorated in gold, an oval, silver, engraved escutcheon on the grip. Wooden ramrod, ivory fore-end cap. Small parts missing/defects. Very scarce, certainly made for a prince or a very important person. length 72 cm.

dating: circa 1800 provenance: Rajasthan, Long, round, smooth-bore, 11 mm cal. barrel, in damask, first part with inscriptions in Hindu, two lateral pans, slightly bell-mouthed nozzle with deep grooves; wooden, full stock with long, iron mounts, engraved, chiselled and partially pierced, brass, rosette-shaped, engraved rivets, double cocks, the front one actuated with a trigger, the other is not working, long, dark, wooden, grooved tang, butt with inscriptions, together with those on the barrel 'RAJ JODPHUR TANTRA TILADA 1155 ASOP 46'. Iron ramrod. length 174 cm.

dating: circa 1700 provenance: Europe, Two-stage, octagonal and round barrel, vent with gilded border, remains of signature 'COL A BESLEP' and 'NOI', rings at the girdle and slightly bell-mouthed nozzle, provided with brass fore-sight. Nice, wooden stock, richly chiselled in the front part, with relieved rinceaux, butt-side with leaves and spirals (small damage in the front part). Complete with trigger. Lock and part of the mounts are missing. Brass butt-plate and muzzle ring, chiselled and with remains of white metal inserts. It certainly deserves a proper restoration. length 108,5 cm.

On the right side at the base an iron spark arrester of square shape , iron pan with turning pan cover provided with a long handle. Barrel's tang with engraved arrow. Iron lock with external serpentine (without key), lock plate marked 'MAGAZIN ROYAL'. Wooden, full stock with butt ribbed on the sides and provided with back appendix, with two, small, iron plaques on the bottom. Iron trigger without trigger guard, in working order. Iron ramrod with cartridge extractor. length 104,5 cm.

dating: mid-18th Century provenance: Ferrara, Smooth-bore barrel with framed base, first part octagonal and signed on the rib 'GIUSEPPE MERLI', then round and with central raiser, strongly bell-mouthed, circular nozzle, decorated with rings; engraved tang; lock signed en suite. Briar-root, full stock in two pieces (small defects and parts missing), slightly embossed and decorated with filigree. Brass mounts, a button on the back for butt's folding and oval escutcheon. The counter-plate with saddle ring. Horn-and iron-tipped wooden ramrod. length 80 cm.
