I-IV] plus miscellaneous shorter essays on philosophy, including his work Logic for the million (1865) [vols. V-VI]. Provenance: Bookplates of Sir David Salomons, Broomhill, Tunbridge Wells in each volume. A financier by profession, Sir David Salomons was heavily engaged in public affairs. In 1839 he was Sheriff of the County of Kent, and in 1855 he became the first Jewish Lord Mayor of London, when he became the chief protagonist in the battle to secure for his people - Jews and others such as Roman Catholics and Quakers - the political rights enjoyed by other Englishmen. It was he who opened the campaign in public, fought out the issues in court, and laid himself open to considerable penalties, entering and speaking for his cause in Parliament. A ships Bell from HMS Intrepid, decommissioned in 1999. The bell was removed and hung in the Petty Officers ward room at RNAS Culdrose. 16cms high, with small 1cm chip at the base, it comes with "Intrepid" post card, Decommission Book, Falklands £1 note and First Day cover dated 23/384 and some original Falklands photographs including Harrier on Flight Deck. The vendor, a Petty Officer served as Flight Crew. NB: HMS Intrepid an LPD took part in the Amphibious landing at San Carlos in 1982 and came under heavy air attack
A bronze ships bell, from 'H.M.S Vivacious', with clapper, 11.5in (29cm) h, 12.5in (32cm) dia, on a later wrought iron bracket. H.M.S. Vivacious was an Admiralty V-class Destroyer. The ship was laid down in July 1916 and launched on 3rd November that year as the 1st Royal Navy warship to carry this name. She was completed in December 1917 and was fitted for use as a minelayer. During 1919-1920 this ship was deployed in the Baltic and was in action against Russian warships. Later she served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Fleets until the mid 1930's when placed in Maintenance Reserve at Rosyth and brought forward in August 1939 for the Review of the Reserve Fleet by HM King George VI at Weymouth. The ship remained in commission and began war service in Western Approaches, including Dunkirk in 1940 and Normandy in 1944. In 1947 the ship was placed on the disposal list and broken up in 1948.
A 19th century model of a Royal Navy frigate, of ebonised and natural wood construction with bone and brass pins, having three masts with rigging and a female figure head, with ten cannon and with patches for sixteen, a pair of lifeboats, ships wheel, bell, capstan and two anchors, 27in (68.5cm) h, 42.5in (108cm) l, in an ebony, bone and turned hardwood cradle.

Lists all the Signal boxes, Motive power depots and crossing keepers boxes on the whole stretch of the line, dated 3rd March 1960, complete with original glazed frame, a superb reminder of this premier holiday line.

Measures 16" x 12½", dated December 1931, Waterloo Station. A wonderful reminder of the one of the most evocative names of the former LSWR North Cornish lines.
