A Diamond Spray Brooch, a flower head with a central rose cut diamond and pear rose cut diamond petals, with diamond set bell flowers and leaves, to a diamond set ribbon, total estimated diamond weight 2.35 carat approximately, measures 5cm by 2cm The brooch is in good condition. It is not hallmarked or stamped, valued as gold. It fastens with a pin and c-hook with a safety chain. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour G/H/I, clarity VS2/SI1/SI2. Gross weight 11.9 grams. Condition Report made 23rd March 2018.

A Seed Pearl Necklace, and Earring Suite, a crescent and star brooch/pendant set throughout with seed pearls, with a removeable seed pearl set bail, measures 3cm by 2.5cm, suspended from a necklace, formed of three seed pearl set crescent and star links, spaced by seed pearl bell flowers, to a seed pearl set chain necklace, length 40cm; with a pair of crescent and star seed pearl set earrings, measure 1cm in diameter, with screw fittings (2)The suite is in good to fair condition. One of the earrings is deficient of the central seed pearls and there is light overall wear to the seed pearls. The earrings are stamped '9CT', valued as gold. The brooch/pendant fastens with a pin and c-hook with a safety cahin and the fitting is removable with a screw, the bail is attached by a c-hook. The necklace fastes with a tongue and box clasp with a safey chain. Gross weight 26.4 grams. Condition Report made 23rd March 2018.

Small series of six T.Ls.S., Quentin Bell, six pages, 8vo (2) and 4to (4), Lewes, Sussex, February 1970 - October 1989, all to [Neville] Braybrooke. Bell's correspondence regards matters of literature, including, '…I have looked through the Hyde Park Gate News, having for a wonder found it, and I have extracted 8 articles which seem to me worth your attention… I seem to remember that you did use The Midnight Ride which forms a part of the list and the article on sailing To the Lighthouse… But there is one thing I have included entitled Miss Smith which is a story about a feminist which I think may cause some amusement and perhaps a little vexation amongst the more ardent American feminists.' 6th November 1988), 'Are you hoping to publish and if so who is your publisher? We are a little chary about unearthing and publishing the juvenilia of Virginia Woolf and I think I should have to consult with my co-partner in the estate and with my publishers before giving permission.' 22nd November 1988). T.L.S., Cecil Woolf, one page, 4to, London, 8th October 1966, to J.R. Ackerley. Woolf states, in part, 'Very many thanks indeed for your letter of September 19th and for your statement on the Vietnam War… We have had, in general, an excellent response, from both British and foreign writers, and I fancy that the book, when published, will prove of considerable interest' adding a holograph postscript, in part, 'I cannot refrain from telling you how very much I enjoyed your "Hindoo Holiday"… not one of the literally dozens of friends, and acquaintances to who, over the years, I have presented copies, have ever failed to enthuse about it.' The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and three subsidiary dials for chime/silent, fast/slow rate and to chime on Westminster quarters or the eight-bell carillon. Triple fusee movement, striking on five gong or eight-bells. 67 x 39 x 26 cm.

Condition report: Replacement leather writing surface, six back plates to bell handles missing, the desk has been kept against a wall leaving the back requiring re-polishing.

A well-engineered model of a Boulton and Watt Bellcrank steam engine, built by Mr D. Russell of Fraserburgh from drawings by Anthony Mount based on the 1802 original engine, the single cylinder approximately 1 ½ inch bore by 2 ¼ inch stroke, with open crank and side rod linkages, steam valve operated from a rim on the flywheel, steam control valve, spoked flywheel 22cm diameter and small spoked belt drive wheel, The model finished in black paintwork and mounted on hardwood plinth measuring 32cm x 18cm, overall 34cm high. * The Bellcrank engine was introduced by Boulton and Watt in 1802. The design was formulated by William Murdock and the Soho foundry manager a Mr Southern. The aim was to supply a small self-contained engine, to the smaller manufacturer who could not afford a house built beam engine. The design was called a bell crank engine' on account of the shape of the rocking levers. These resembled the levers that transferred the pull of the ropes in a bell tower to the bells. The design was in production from 1797 until 1806, when Boulton and Watt introduced their small self-contained beam engine mounted on a cast iron cistern. The earliest engines were filled with a form of drop valve. Then came the long 'D' valve, followed by the slide valve. This model is based on one from 1802 and has a long 'D' valve.

A fine exhibition quality 7 ¼ inch gauge model of the Great Western Railway Class 3700 4-4-0 tender locomotive No.3440 'City of Truro', built by David Aitken to the design of the original by George Jackson Churchward, with brazed superheated copper boiler, fittings including water gauge with shut off lever, pressure gauges, safety, blower and clack valves, two whistles, the fine quality cab detail including condensing coil for the hydrostatic lubricator in the roof, regulator connected with lubricator valve, bell system, seats, drip oil feeds, lever operated fire doors, vacuum brake, control and reverse lever, chassis detail including twin inside cylinders with Stephenson's link reverse, mechanical lubricator, sand boxes, working leaf springs, rivet detail and brake gear, the tender with plaque 1506 'Swindon Works May 1903', 3000 gallon design with water valves and water level gauge, water scoop, detailed rivet work, toolboxes, vents, water cocks, hand feed pump, brake gear, steps, handrails and lamp irons, finished in lined Great Western green and black lined livery with venetian red chassis, 225cm long, 31cm wide. The model comes complete with a display track and fine quality oak display stand. Boiler History: None available (has been steamed). Provenance: The Pete Waterman Collection. Dreweatts Spring 2015. A well-engineered 2 inch scale model of a Shand Mason horse drawn fire engine, built by the late Mr Ivor Dolling of Chesham from the Edgar T Westbury drawings and Reeves castings, the model with vertical copper boiler having J tubes, normal steam fittings, twin cylinder live steam engine with cylinder head lubricators, scotch cranks, eccentric driven feed pump with stop cocks, twin spoked flywheels and twin direct coupled water pumps with changeover lever, water tanks, suction and delivery hose, chassis and body details include spoked wooden wheels with metal rims, turning lock, coal bunker, driver's seat with brass rail to back, box body with foot rest, brake gear, bell, lamp brackets and brass lamps. The model finished in red and black paintwork with signwriting Chesham District Council and dated 1894, Length 56cm. Width 28cm. Height 37cm.

A George III oak longcase clock, 31cm square brass dial inscribed John Stancliffe, Roman and Arabic numeral, mask and leafy scroll spandrels, date and penny moon apertures, twin-winding holes, eight-day movement striking on a bell, caddy top case with parcel-gilt with pillars, shaped rectangular door to waist, flanked by quarter-columns, bracket feet, 210cm high, c. 1760John Stancliffe was a Halifax maker who also signed clocks from Sheffield and London. He was born in 1706, was declared bankrupt in 1776 and died in 1780, a member of a widespread local dynasty of makers.

A George I Derbyshire oak longcase clock, 25.5cm square brass dial inscribed Wolley (sic, Wooley)/Codnor, Roman chapter with Arabic subsidiaries, thirty-hour movement striking on a bell, the hood with outswept cornice, Doric pilasters, lofty arched rectangular door with inset bull's eye lenticle, skirted base, 207cm high, c. 1725James Wolley was born at Breach Farm Codnor, Derbyshire in 1695 and was apprenticed 1709-1716 to John Wyld the elder of Nottingham (who later became his brother-in-law) and thereafter made clocks of increasingly high quality at Codnor (where he also farmed) until his death aged 89 in 1785. The business was continued for another generation by the sons of his brother Samuel, John and Samuel Woolley.

John Scott is recorded as working at 40, Gloucester Street, Red Lion Square, between 1770 and 1794.

Harley, Salop, Roman numerals, figural spandrels allegorical of the four seasons, thirty hour movement striking on a bell, date aperture, the hood with moulded outswept cornice, turned columns, double-dome door to waist flanked by quarter-columns, plinth base, 200.5cm high, c.1765Samuel Harley was born in Shrewsbury c. 1730 son of clockmaker Wiliam Harley (d. 1764) and joined his father (to whom he had been apprenticed) in 1751, working on his own account from 1764, and taking his first apprentice a year later. He married Ann (died 1799) and had seven chiil;dren, and served as Mayor of Shrewsbury in 1784. He died in 1808. His cl;ocks were always of superior quality, although very simple, rather old fashioned single hand 30 hour ones are quite rare. Condition Report: Dial and chapter ring heavily restored, movement very clean and complete.
