Peacock and Dragon: A Pair of Hand-Loom Jacquard-Woven Woollen Twill Door Curtains, by Morris & Co., designed by William Morris, woven in blue, green and orange, 72cm wide, 210cm long; and A Quantity of Other Morris & Co., Curtains, various fabrics, patterns Anemone, Dove and Rose, Apple and Flower Garden, and sizes (qty) See illustrations Made for Rounton Grange, Northallerton, North Yorkshire. A house designed by Philip Webb in 1872 and built between 1872 and 1876. Philip Webb was responsible for introducing Morris & Co.'s work to the Bell family. Isaac Lowthian Bell, the northern iron master and chemist, first employed him in 1868 for alterations to Washington Hall, County Durham, and Webb was subsequently commissioned to build his second home, Rounton Grange, as well as Red Barns in Redcar for Bell's son, Hugh and Smeaton Manor for his daughter Ada Godman. A large carpet was designed for the house, ceilings were painted and the walls of most rooms (which were filled with Morris furniture) were either wallpapered or covered in fabric.

Thereafter, the clock was purchased by Partridges of London at auction, and upon their liquidation it was owned by a Mr Hunt of Derbyshire, and from April 2010 the present owner.13.02.18, Metal surfaces are discoloured in parts, dial with minor staining marks, topside of the pediment with one small dent, back of the pediment with scratches, movement needs cleaning, in going order and striking.

An Early Tabernacle Form Gilt Brass Striking Table Clock, case possibly German, mid-17th Century, later movement restored in 1965 which still retains some 17th century parts, tabernacle form case with a restored top gallery supported on four tapered columns, foliate cast and chased plinth base, raised upon bun shaped feet, silvered Roman numeral dial with an inner quarter hour track and a foliate engraved centre, single tulip-shaped steel hand, the rear silvered Arabic dial is for the strike, now with a custom-made twin gut fusee movement, square section brass pillars, verge escapement, rear mounted bob pendulum, striking on a top mounted bell, 29cm high see illustration This clock was sold in ''The Albert Odmark Collection of Important Clocks and Watches Sale'' Christie's, London 11th March 2005, lot 422.12.02.18, The gilded surfaces are nicely aged and discoloured, case mid-17th century, both silvered dial are discoloured. The movement was restored by Keith Davies in 1965, the movement still retains the original top and base plates and square pillars, both the going and striking trains are replacements, later verge escapement, and now converted to bob pendulum, the strike train striking the bell housed in the restored gallery cupola above the dials via a hammer carried on a vertical steel arbor, clock in going order.
