Lot 252

A Bohemia amber flash and cut glass decanter, with German silver mount struck 800, the body of bell shape with foliate and star cut decoration. Height 24 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The stopper has a small chip and a small fleabite to the rim otherwise there are no obvious faults. The silver mount around the neck is in good order however there are small nibbles around the mouth opening and surface scratch marks to the top none of which are detrimental. The glass body is generally in good order throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or flaws. The decanter has a recessed foot rim which has no obvious chips.

Lot 1056

A Thomas Edison phonograph, 19th century, black Japanned with parcel gilt and gilt lettering, with applied licensing label and Serial No. S10531, in a fitted oak case with applied ivorine label for "The Edison-Bell Phonograph Supply Co., Liverpool". CONDITION REPORT: There is no winding handle with this item and therefore we are unable to determine whether the mechanism winds or not. All items with this lot are illustrated in the image.

Lot 1871

An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, boxwood strung and with swans neck pediment above the arched painted dial and scene emblematic of farming to the arch, with two-train striking movement. CONDITION REPORT: This is an 8 day clock. The hood is in generally good condition, it is however very dirty. The glass to the door is cracked in two places. The long trunk door has a very slight warp at the bottom left hand corner. The base front edge bottom moulding is detached. The left hand return base moulding is missing. The movement winds on both trains and appears to be ticking. It strikes when advanced. We have the pendulum and 2 weights. The bell is missing. The dial is very dirty and has some paint loss. The numerals have been re-painted.

Lot 1853

An oak longcase clock, 19th century, the painted arched dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials, with eight day movement chiming on a bell, the hood with swans neck pediment and turned finial with Gothic arches to the sides and turned columns flanking the door with quarter columns to the trunk. 224 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. We have both weights and pendulum. The case is in generally very good condition with no evidence of any woodworm past or present. The trunk door is not warped. The glazed door is not warped. The painted dial has some rubbing to the numerals but is generally in good order.

A French brass timepiece carriage clock alarm, late 19th/early 20th century, the dials with Roman numerals and with fluted columns to each corner, chiming on a bell to the underside, with plush travel case and with key. Height excluding handle 13.2 cm.

Lot 1185

A 19th century ormolu mantle clock, French, with ceramic tablet numerals. Height 42 cm, width 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The gilding is rubbed on both foliate scrolling side appliques. This has originally been under a dome but given the amount of dust and grime that has congregated in the crevices it has obviously been without a dome for sometime. The gilding looks bubbled to the left and right of the face mask. The gadrooning directly beneath the face mask and to the sides is free from the majority of its original gilding. The enamelled numerals all appear to be in good order with the exception of number 8 which has a small chip on the top left-hand side which is only really notable using a magnifying glass. The 8-day Japy Freres movement chimes on a bell and is numbered 8002. The majority of the gilding on the rear of the case is missing. All in all in tired condition in need of some restoration.

Lot 1433

An 18th century ball moon clock in a solid red walnut case by Edward Hariman, Workington circa 1750, the hood with pagoda top and glazed arched door flanked by columns and with long trunk door beneath and conforming base raised on bracket feet. With 12" arched brass dial with four season spandrels, the four pillar movement rack striking and with continuous ball moon drive. The hours strike on a bell. Height 225 cm. NOTE: Edward Hariman was born circa 1700 in the Crosby area and was married in 1729. He moved to Workington in the early 1730's making 30 hour and eight day clocks. He also made special clocks with astronomical dials and globe moons. He died in Workington in 1776 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. There does not appear to be any pieces missing from the movement. In our opinion the movement is original to the case and the cheeks and seatboard are original and unaltered. The case itself its in generally very good order throughout with only very minor imperfections. The trunk door is not warped. The backboards are all original. We have both weights, pendulum and all keys.

Lot 1620

A walnut veneered longcase clock, the brass and silvered arch dial inscribed for Samuel Northcote Plymouth, the silvered dial with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, subsidiary seconds and date dials beneath strike and silent and with pierced spandrels, the eight day movement chiming on a bell. +/- 229 cm high, 54 cm wide (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in reasonably good condition with no significant issues. The hood is in generally good order. The door is not warped. All glass is present and original. The left hand return moulding at the bottom of the hood is a little loose but all present. The right hand return moulding has a very small loss right at the very rear of the case for +/- 2 cm. There is a small section of moulding detached from the collar beneath the case - we have the piece. The trunk door is not warped. The base is in generally good condition also. We have a pendulum with the clock but it is not the correct one. When weight is applied to the going train the clock does however tick. The catgut is snapped on the strike train so we are not able to ascertain whether the strike is actually operating at present. The strike/silent mechanism is present but detached from the pointer. There maybe something missing from the operation of the date wheel. The backboards of the case are original and we cannot see any evidence of any woodworm.

An Edwardian satin birch vase table, the top painted to the centre with a Gainsborough style lady framed by bell flowers and ribbon swags, supported on square tapering legs with painted bell flower decoration and united by a shaped stretcher, diameter 35.5 cm, 71 cm high.
