A George III, ebonised case, striking 8 day table clock, by Peter Wood and J. Forbes of London. Late 18th century, and later. The inverted bell top fitted with gilt brass carrying handle, and two pineapple finials, with gilt brass pierced sound frets to the sides, with a stepped rectangular base, raised on four gilt brass bracket feet. The arched top glazed door, enclosing a 6.8" arched brass dial, with strike /silent dial to the arch and a 6.5" silvered chapter ring. The matted dial centre with recessed silvered panel signed `Peter Wood London`. The twin train, twin fusee movement, with anchor escapement, hour striking on a bell, the movement back plate with engraved border and signed `J. Forbes London. Overall dimensions 47cm high x 27cm wide.
A French ormolu mantle clock. Louis XVI style, late 19th century, By Aubert & Klaftenberger Geneve. Twin train, 8 day movement, striking 1/2 hour on a bell. The case of waisted dome top shape with flaming torchere and wreath cresting and further laurel wreath mounts. The white enamel dial signed Aubert & Klaftenberger Geneve. With a painted oval sevres style portrait panel below. On three scroll supports. Giltwood stand and ebonised wooden oval plinth.
AMENDMENT: A George II mahogany serving table, the red variagated marble rectangular top, above a blind fret carved stylised greek key frieze, above scallop, acanthus and trailing bell flower carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet, 92 x 186 x 88 cm. NOTE: By repute from the vendor the serving/ side table is from Bulstrode Park in Buckinghamshire, originally an estate of the Duke of Portland and in the first decade of 19th century the estate change hands to the Duke of Somerset.
