The movement striking a bell and having an 8 1/4 inch (21 cm) round enamel dial signed Richard Ganthony, Lombard Street London and umbered 402, with corresponding number and name engraved into the brass back-plate. The mahogany and satinwood case of fabulous quality having rosewood cross-banded borders outlined in stringing. The square pediment sweeping up to a small platform surmounted by a flaming urn finial. The moulded plinth base with a band of nulling to the front, raised on brass lion paw feet with corner ornamentation, 28 ins (71 cms) in height.

A late 18th Century mahogany longcase clock by John Wyke of Liverpool, the thirteen arched brass dial showing phases of the moon to the arch, with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the wide chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, contained in case with moulded scroll pediment and inset with three gilt decorated glass frieze panels, turned and fluted columns to hood, blind fret frieze above shaped and figured trunk door, flanked by fluted quarter columns, plinth base with raised astragal centre panel and blind fret ornament to the cant corners, on ogee bracket feet, 93ins high (dial now painted in copper finish paint, with repairs, the case with restoration and repolished). Note: John Wyke of Liverpool recorded working 1766-1781, and later in partnership as Wyke & Green at Liverpool 1781-1805
A Dearne Valley Railway full title cast-iron sign "Dearne Valley Railway. Notice. Beware Of Trains. Do Not Use The Crossing While The Bell Is Ringing. By Order". Rectangular with rounded corners, 321/2"x16", face-repainted only. Astonishingly rare, this is believed to be the only known survivor. The Dearne Valley Railway opened in 1909 worked initially by the Hull & Barnsley Railway then by the LYR. It operated the line from Hemsworth to Black Carr, Doncaster.
