Condition - generally very good, small chips and nibbles to marble, minor scratches and wear to gilding, losses to finish on blue sphere, numerals V missing, somebody has placed numeral I in it's place, numeral iii glued back on, part of X broken and missing, no pendulum, appears to be in working order, however, not sold with any guarantee.

A Bicycle Bell. A nickel-plated and decorated alarm with a depiction of Field Marshall Lord Roberts crafted on the top, and with German-manufactured patent wording inscribed to the side of the casing. Roberts was awarded the German Order of the Black Eagle during the Kaiser's visit to England 1901, and the bell may well be of this time, yet interestingly, Roberts increasingly warned of the German military threat before he died in 1914.

A silver-painted machine with 24-inch semi-drop handlebars, turned grips, front brake, bell, wood block pedals, adjustable tangent spokes, oval backbone and remains of the company's non-vibrating saddle support, but a later saddle currently fitted. A sound bicycle that will reward a little refurbishment.

A circa 1913 Dursley Pedersen 'Anti-Rust' Model. Painted dark green, it is a size 4 machine numbered 5561, and has a re-woven hammock saddle, original celluloid covered drop handlebars with inverted brake levers and original style grips, 28-inch Westwwod rims with a three-speed Sturmey Archer hub fitted. nickel-plated cranks, front-mounted luggage rack with a basket fitted, Lucas Ltd. 'Silver king' oil lamp, and original frame-mounted leather tool holder, bell and a brass pump.

A circa 1904 Ladies Dursley Pedersen. A size B bicycle numbered 722. Finished in green enamel with nickel-plated up-turned handlebars with a lever-operated stirrup brake and cork grips, nickel-plated 26-inch Westwood rims and tyres, celluloid chain guard and a leather frame-fitted tool bag. The laced saddle appears to be original and a handlebars bell is fitted.

Lot 560

A c1885 Lloyd Brothers 'Quadrant No 15' Tandem Tricycle. A highly useable double-steered mixed-gender tricycle in excellent condition, finished in black enamel with complementary nickel-plated parts like the hooped handlebars with matching turned grips, steering control rods, seat supports and feet rests. The front steering wheel is 26-inch and the two driving wheels, via a Starley axle are 36-inches. Drive is via adjustable inch-pitch block chains, correctly fitted with protection guards. The nickel-plated 6-inch slotted cranks and rubber block pedals are matching, as are the saddles (modern covers) and the two luggage racks, which are later additions. A double-armed brake at the left side is within reach of, and capable of being applied, by both riders, and a rear jockey wheel prevents a backward fall. A bell and a lamp bracket are fitted. On test it would appear to be geared to 52-inch.

Lot 254

A c1950 Thanet Silver Light. With a 24-inch frame numbered SL1472, retaining its original chromium-plated front and rear forks but with a repainted black frame with Thanet decals applied. Other features include a combination Sturmey Archer four-speed hub gear (dated 1951) and a Constrictor gear-change operated from a down-tube control, centre-pull Mafac brakes, red Bluemels mudguards, 15-inch aluminium drop handlebars fitted to a GB extension and a narrow Brooks racing saddle. The ensemble incorporates matching 27-inch Alumlite wheels, front wheel spinners, bell, bottle carrier and a near-side lamp bracket. Although in sound condition, there is a small dent in the side of the top tube.

A Humber Lady's 24-inch Loop Frame Bicycle. A highly original bicycle with typical Humber double-hollow front forks with blind ends, flat 19-inch nickel-plated handlebars with white celluloid grips and a centre-pull front stirrup brake, a 6-inch chain set with 7-ich cranks and split rubber pedals, skirt guard, back-pedalling brake, a Lucas rear rank and a wicker basket. Other features include a Brooks leather saddle and a nickel-plated bell.

A Humber Lady's 24-inch Loop Frame Bicycle. A highly original example numbered N7574 with typical Humber double-hollow front forks with open ends, up-turned 17-inch nickel-plated handlebars with black grips and a centre-pull stirrup brakes, chain guard, block rubber pedals, original decals, pump, bell and fabric-covered saddle.

A c1892 Diamond-Framed Safety Bicycle. A barn discovery in recent years, the bicycle features mudguards, 1¼-inch rims, original solid rubber tyring to the front, 25-inch handlebars, inch-pitch driving chain, 6-inch slotted cranks, pedals, mounting step, remains of the leather hammock saddle, claw-foot bell and plunger brake. A good restoration project.

Lid has minor glaze chips to rims that have been repainted. No visible major damage.
