An iridescent glass juglet with bell-shaped body and dimple base, tubular neck with median collar, flared mouth with rolled rim, round-section applied handle with folded junction to rim. 82 grams, 15.5cm (6"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired before 1995. Cf. Whitehouse, D. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.2, New York, 2001, item 629 for type. Fine condition, accretion to surface.
14th century AD. A bronze bell-shaped vessel with radiating loop and studs to the rim; reserved parcel-gilt calligraphic text on a patterned field with rosettes below. 1.7 kg, 14.5cm high (5 3/4"). The property of a German gentleman; acquired 1980s-early 1990s. Cf. von Gladiss, A. Glanz und Substanz. Metallarbeitung in der Sammlung des Museums für Islamische Kunst, Berlin, 2012, item 68 for type. Fair condition; base absent.
5th-4th century BC. A terracotta oinochoe or wine-pitcher with bell-shaped body, ribbed neck, trefoil rim and bifid strap handle to the rear; painted decoration including lozenges to the neck band of scrolled tendrils and lozenges to the shoulder, frieze of galloping horses to the body with guilloches, geometric motifs and archaic Greek text, swags and band below. 1 kg, 23cm (9"). Fine condition, fire damaged and repaired. Ex German collection; acquired 1980s.
9th-12th century AD. A hollow-formed bronze animal figure with gaping mouth, band of annulets to the head, tail and lower edge of the body, links with pendant rumbler bell; Baltic workmanship. 31 grams, 86mm (3 1/2"). Property of a gentleman; acquired before 1990. Cf. Sedov, B.B. Finno-Ugri i Balti v Epokhi Srednevekovija, Moscow, 1987, plate LXV for type. Fine condition. [No Reserve]
2nd-3rd century AD. A blue glass vessel with broad bell-shaped base and recessed underside, tapering tubular body with everted and folded rim. 32 grams, 13cm (5 1/4"). Acquired on the London art market prior to 1980. Cf. Whitehouse, D. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.1, New York, 1997, item 259. Fine condition.
A Meissen type porcelain cased mantle clock The white enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the floral encrusted and painted case surmounted with musical putti flanking an urn, the barrel movement numbered 2322 and striking on a bell, blue painted cross swords mark. 46 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS: Generally good condition, expected wear, various slight losses, some discolouration, some slight glaze flaws, some rubbing to painting and gilding.
