John Lee of London - an early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, having a signed arched brass 12" dial, with silvered strike/silent dial to the arch, silvered chapter ring and subsidiary seconds dial, matted centre, date aperture, twin winding holes for a brass eight-day four-pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, the case having marquetry inlaid arched panelled door to a boxbase, h.198cmCondition report: Eight day movement.No pendulum, but should work with a pendulum as appears otherwise complete.With brass cased weights.Movement and dial all belong.Movement tarnished.All appears untouched for a long time.Glass broken.Dial fits head perfectly, so probably all original.Some traces of inactive woodworm to hood.Case unpolished but otherwise good, no splits.

William Kipling of London - an early 18th century walnut and floral marquetry inlaid longcase clock, having a square brass 12" dial, with cast brass cherub spandrels holding aloft a crown, signed to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, having silvered subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, matted centre, twin ringed winding holes for a brass eight-day four-pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, the case with all-over floral marquetry and figural inlays, h.217cmCondition report: With brass cased weights, pendulum and door key.Case generally good with some shrinkage splits but veneers 99% complete.Large chip above boxbase and further repair to opposite corner.The whole dial appears cleaned back.Movement appears all original and untouched for a long time.Gut wire frayed but not broken.Hands and chapter ring repainted.Cheeks have been built up.Seatboard probably an old replacement.Case free from woodworm.Consigned from a deceased estate in Sussex, no service history.

At the back there is also one, larger circular gong. Underneath the lower right-hand gilded spandrel there is a lever for eight bells and one bell.

Another drawing from this stay in Tangier, Bowl of Vegetables and Fruits, is executed in the same style and bears the date 1936 (see Toovey's, Fine Art, 5th September 2018, lot 75). A PAIR OF GEORGE III COADE STONE VASESDATED 1791Each with cone finial above tapering bodies with lion mask mounts holding trailing bellflower, pedestal foot and square plinth base, both impressed "COADE LONDON 1791"each approximately 80cm high, 58cm diameter overallProvenance: Acquired 25 years ago as part of the purchase of a Grade II listed property in Buckinghamshire when these vases were subsequently discovered in a herbaceous border. Subsequently cleaned and restored by Thomason of Cudworth in 2010This design is illustrated as No. 88 in Coade's 1784 'Descriptive Catalogue of Coade's Artificial Stone Manufactory', Section II VASES- 'A Vase with Lions' Heads- Much Enriched' £2 12s 6d. This particular design is rarely seen at auction- design No. 89 is more commonly seen. The latter has the same basic body shape, finial and cover but with a plainer floral banding and more austere drapery- rather than the lion masks and ebullient pastoral bellflower swags seen here. Condition Report: Cleaned and restored in 2010 as catalogued. Both vases bear the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions consistent with age. Some old chips, 'nibbles' and losses. Some old splits and cracks. Lids are later replacements. Both have glue residue visible to the metal pins securing the finials. One vase with ten bell flower moulding re-glued into position.
