Original 1951 London Transport POSTER 'Men Conductors Required' featuring a picture of a young conductor with his Bell Punch & ticket rack and an illustration of an RT/RTL/RTW-type bus. A 19th Century Bohemian Amber Crystal glass goblet with bell shaped bowl, the top half cut with six discs, each etched, each marked "Julia", "Liebe" with image of a bird upon a bridge, "Gezunheit" with a serpent wrapped around a stick, "Eintracht" with an image of two columns and two trees, "Gluck" with an image of flowers in a vase, "Und Freute" with the image of musical instruments, the lower half of the goblet facet cut with star-cut base,14.5 cm high(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS One long thin chip to the rim, various smaller chips to the rim. Photographs may not show adequately. Body with various small light scratches throughout, some chips to the foot throughout. The interior to the base is scratched. General signs of wear and tear throughout
A Tibetan bronze and brass vajra handled bell and a white metal brass and copper mounted seal with all-over embossed scrolling foliate and Greek Key type decoration CONDITION REPORTS The bell finial has been crudely attached to the base - unknown if this is a repair or original. The seal has significant damage to both sides of the finial. the casing is eroded and the interior/filling showing. the copper neck is crudely mounted, again unknown if this has been restored or original to the piece and there is some misshapeness and dents to the copper petals holding the seal. The seal itself has discolouration, some rusting, signs of corrosion, a small split to the base, various knocks etc. both items have general wear to include surface scratches, dirt, some pitting etc all conducive with age and use - see images for further details.The seal - large split from what looks like a puncture mark to the handle. Handle is bent out of shape, various scratches as is the base which is bent out of circular. Various scratches and pock marks etc throughout. some damage to the copper ware throughout. More splits coming in the handle to both sides. The bell is bent out of circular slightly. The handle is also bent out of the vertical. The whole with various scratches, both items with general signs of wear and tear through age and use throughout.
Fine Binding. The Book of Common Prayer, Oxford, n.d. [c. 1917], inscribed in ink to Evelyn Pennefather from 'Louise' in memory of her father 29th August 1917. Note: The Reverend Prebendary Somerset Edward Pennefather was Vicar of St. Mary Abbots, Kensington, from 1897 until his death during the Great War in 1917. His bell ringing regime apparently proved to be somewhat of an annoyance to Evelyn Waugh.
