Originally 'Empire Baffin' cargo ship built in 1941 by Lithgows Ltd, Port Glasgow, commissioned in 1943 as HMS Sancroft, being converted to a cable-laying ship for Operation Pluto, returned to the MoWT in 1946, sold and renamed 'Clintonia', final change of ownership in 1960, renamed 'Aspis', scrapped in 1963. Empire Baffin was a member of a number of convoys during WWII and used in support of Operation Overlord as HMS Sancroft.
