A George III oak 8-day longcase clock, by ‘Rob? Webster, Shrewsbury’, cross-banded in mahogany, the hood with a broken swan-neck pediment, enclosing a 13” arched, painted dial, only ‘shadow’ of maker’s name evident, with floral painted arch and spandrels, a subsidiary dial for seconds and date aperture, the 8-day movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell, some damage, with pendulum and two weights (6)Condition report: Chips, including return mouldings of hood. Dents and scratches consistent with age and use. Dial – lettering worn. Not operational in vendor’s home. Base lacking plinth and section of left side of base damaged – 11cm x 2cm. Front panel of base cracked from top to bottom and chipped cross-banding, including missing a 2cm section.
A late 19th French gilt spelter, Rococo style, mantel clock, with a 3" enamelled dial flanked by a seated lady holding a picture, with an 8' day French, twin drum movement, striking on a bell, wide, with gilt stand and pendulum, very damaged, as found, lacking elements, 32cm high x 41cm (3)Condition report: As found, very damaged including arm and hand broken off. Lacking one finger on same broken arm, lacking elements including back plate, dial with hairline cracks. Stand chipped and gilding rubbed.
A Victorian slate mantel clock, the enamelled and gilt chapter ring set with Roman numerals, enclosing a movement striking on a bell, the circular top on a scrolled base with glass circular panel, on a plinth base with roundel, 40 x 46 x 14cm. CONDITION REPORT Overall good condition, there is a pendulum and a winding key within the case for this clock, although the lower open aperture appears to be lacking a cover.

Samuel Deacon, Barton. A George III mahogany and oak long case clock, the square enamel dial painted with floral spandrels, Arabic numerals, date aperture, eight day two train movement with bell strike, the hood with broken arch pediment, raised on brass caped fluted columns, the case door inlaid with shell paterea, flanked by quarter pilasters, with pendulum, no key, 203.5cm high. N.B. Samuel Deacon was born in Leicestershire in 1746 and was head of the celebrated family of watch and clock makers working at Barton-in-the-Beans from 1771 until 1951. Leicestershire Museums have a collection of his clocks and workshop tools, etc,. He is well documented. On initial inspection it would appear that the clock would have originally had feet, probably bracket, which are now gone and replaced by a matched in oak beading strip.

A GEORGE III OAK LONGCASE CLOCKThe painted arched 12in dial with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, signed 'CHRISTMAS YARMOUTH', with a twin-train movement striking on a bell, with two weights, pendulum and winding key, overall height 208cmCondition report: Case: Case repolished at some point recently, however please note the following apparent issues: The case:Some old worm to the hood. The scroll pediment is loose. The brass spheres maybe not be original. The right hand moulding below the hood on the trunk needs repositioning. Crack just above the right hand side of the trunk door. Slight warp to the door, which effects the upper half of the trunk door. Both side panels on the plinth are split. Various scuffs and marks commensurate with use and age. The movement: The movement may not be original to case. However, the dial is attractively painted with the original surface. Some in painting to the centre. The movement has been cleaned fairly recently but will require a some work to the pendulum suspension block which is bent and has previously been replaced. We are unable to guarantee that the movement is in working order or complete, however, there appears to be no missing parts. 2 lead weights, winding key, key and pendulum.
