A mid 18th century miniature brass lantern alarm timepiece by Jno. Stokes, No. 630 The strapped bell within five urn finials on slender columns and ball feet, with side door with iron hoop and spikes to the rear, the single handed 5" arched brass dial sign in a boss 'Jno.Stokes ST.IVES. No 630' over a Roman chapter ring, matted centre and alarm-setting disc, the weight driven movement with knife-edge verge escapement, 13cm wide, 9cm deep, 21cm high.
An 18th century oak longcase clock by Wm Stokes The rectangular ogee moulded cornice above a square glazed door with ring turned split balusters, above a rectangular moulded door on square moulded plinth base, the 9.25" square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels framing the Roman chapter ring and matted centre with single hand, signed between V and VII 'Wm Stokes', the posted iron movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on a bell, the hammer stop and spring each with hand fretted decoration, the three strike train arbors are all made with pivots to the front in the traditional way, but secured at the rear by separate pivots in screw-threaded heads locating through the rear parts, 45cm wide, 21cm deep, 196cm high.
A 19th century French china cased mantel clock on stand. Housing an 8 day silk suspension movement striking on a bell. The case by Jacob Petit is blue ground, painted with flowers and moulded with Neo-Rococo scrolls edged in gilt. Underglaze blue J. Bell 1924, together with an Irish medallion and various later motorsport brochures. Rosedale Chimney Bank is a hill pass that carries a minor road between Rosedale Abbey and Hutton-le-Hole in the Ryedale district of the North York Moors National Park; it shares the title of steepest road in England.
