The top panel to the hood is loose, the seat board is screwed to the cheeks and the trunk door has a very slight warp. The base and plinth have paint lose and knocks. The movement could do with a clean.

A Victorian gem set precious yellow metal Shamrock brooch, with two snowdrop shaped bell drops. Set with a square shaped pyrope garnet to the centre, surrounded by a scattering of 14 vari-sized emerald-cut emeralds plus a further two green stone round cut replacements. The two snowdrop bells are suspended from the main body of the brooch by wheat/spiga chains. The metal tests as 18 carat gold. Length from top of the brooch to the ends of the bells 6.5cm and 3cm wide. Gross weight approximately 8.62 grams.

Bell by the Brethren as a Token of Esteem and to Commemorate His Year of Office as W.M. 1990-91"; together with WWII medals 1939-45 Star, 1939-45 War Medal, Royal Life Saving Medallion etc, contained in an EPNS cigarette box.
An early 18th century brass lantern clock, the movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell, the 6½-inch circular dial engraved with foliate scrolls, the chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and signed 'Smorthwait in Colchester', the case of typical form with domed bell surmount and turned finial above pierced and engraved fret panels, the turned side columns with hinged side panels, on turned ball feet, height 39cm, with pendulum and later painted wood wall bracket. Provenance: restored by Cloud & Shapland, London, in 1889 and at West Dean College in 1995. Note: John Smorthwait (1675-1739) is a recorded clockmaker working in Colchester from about 1712 to his death in 1739. He was one of Colchester's earliest clockmakers and by far the most prolific.
A George III oak longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 11-inch square silvered dial with black Roman hour numerals and foliate engraving and inscribed 'Danl Gill RYE', the hood with moulded pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the rectangular trunk door above a plain base and bracket feet, height 214.5cm, with pendulum and weight. Note: Daniel Gill is a recorded Sussex clockmaker. Born in 1759, he worked from his High Street address in Rye between 1798 and 1810.

Note: John Ettry is a recorded Wiltshire clockmaker. Born in 1717, he worked from Bishops Canning and nearby Horton from 1736 until his death in 1759.
