(B.P. 21% + VAT)  Clean and presentable, some chips, marks and discolouration to the face.  Tip of wafer/locator missing.  Movement is very dusty and cobwebbed.  Case has a few marks in places commensurate with age and wear.

A Victorian novelty silver tortoise table bell. Joseph Braham, London, 1895. Realistically modelled with a silver shell and body, the clockwork bell mechanism operated by depressing the head or tail, approx. 17cm long, 5.5cm high Condition Report: The tortoise bell is in good condition commensurate with age. Some minor surface scratching, pitting and nicking noted. A little wear to the decoration (mainly to high points on shell and tail). Hallmarks to shell a little rubbed but clear to underside. Some minor splits and buckling to silver shell noted under 10x magnification. A very slight wobble when standing. A small ding to the underside of one foot. Clockwork mechanism appears to be working - it winds up and the bell rings when tail/head are depressed. Please note that we have not opened the bell so cannot comment on the condition of the internal mechanism. A little rusting/marking noted to the winding bar and some screws. Gross weight approx. 17.7ozt (NB. not silver weight). Overall a lovely novelty piece in good overall condition commensurate with age. An early George I silver punch bowl. Robert Timbrell & Joseph Bell I, London, 1714. Designed with two rows of fluted bands to the circular body and raised on a fluted, circular foot, the cartouches with chased scale borders within scroll frames, one engraved with arms, possibly a variant of Enys impaling Nicholas (of Lazy Hill, Dublin), the other vacant, the underside scratch engraved with the initials E over IE, 1732 and the scratch weight 34=12, 25.2cm dia., 15cm high, approx. weight 34.1oztFootnotes:  Arms: on a fess embattled 3 cinquefoils between and within 3 birds all within a bordure IMPALING on a chevron a crescent between and within 3 cross crosslets fitchy.  Families: possibly a variant of Enys (with a bordure) IMPALING Nicholas (of Lazy Hill, Dublin). Some general surface scratching, nicking and minor pitting noted. Heavier nicking and scratching to base inside the bowl.  A ding to the lobed lower section of the body. Some other small dings and bruising noted to body and foot. Some dark marks and tarnish noted. Foot pushing in slightly and a small split beginning to form in one area where it has pushed in. Both cartouches look to have been applied with a layer/patch of silver over the original cartouches - some solder visible at edges. Possible erasure to the vacant cartouche. Engraved coat of arms to other cartouche is crisp (later). Some solder above the engraved cartouche which obscures some of the decoration. Hallmarks to underside of foot are clear. Wobbles slightly on foot. Some wear to decoration commensurate with age. Rim very slightly out of round. Overall an attractive punch bowl in good condition commensurate with age. A Czechoslovakian Hanukkah menorah. 20th century (1921-1928), 800 standard. Designed with eight foliate draped arms and a lion rampant surmount, complete with auxiliary lamp and raised on a prick dot engraved bell-shaped base on four openwork bracket feet, maker's mark JH, 38.5cm high, approx. weight 27.5oztCondition Report: Fair condition but some damage noted. Very heavy tarnish, particularly to branches. General scratching and nicking. One of the lion's paws has broken off (not present). Some capitals bent and wobbly. Two branches appear to be bent so the capitals do not sit in line. Some dings to domed base and menorah wobbles on feet. Some repairs possibly concealed by tarnish. Some solder at bottom of stem.
