An exceptional French ormolu and white marble Mantle Clock, by Samuel Marti Paris, c. 1900, the case in the form of a four wheel carriage with three cherubs, the drum with an enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals around a skeleton movement with hammer pendulum and striking on a steel bell, the drum surmounted with a slated cherub on a cushion, another cherub steering with two goats attached to a shaft and a third cherub shoving the carriage, the case and carriage cast with scrolling foliage, vines and mythical animals on a two stage oblong marble base with conforming mounts on four lion paw feet, 44cms x 46cms (17" x 22"). (1) Provenance: Kilkenny Castle Dispersal Sale 1935, by descent to the present vendor.
