A brass barrelled and brass framed flintlock boxlock blunderbuss pocket pistol with spring bayonet, by Williams, Chatham, c 1800, 7” overall, bell mouth barrel 2½” the octagonal breech with early B’ham proofs, and with 2½” spring bayonet beneath released by sliding trigger guard; the frame engraved with trophies of flags and signed in oval panels; with top thumb safety and walnut slab butt with oval silver escutcheon. GWO & C (the frizzen probably a contemporary replacement). Plate 3

GWO & C (light age wear). Plate 6
A steel barrelled percussion blunderbuss with spring bayonet, by Clough & Sons of Bath, c 1830, 29½” overall, 2 stage bell mouth barrel 14½”, the octagonal breech engraved “Bath”, with 12½” spring bayonet released by a catch on the breech tang; signed stepped lock with safety bolt; walnut fullstock with chequered wrist and engraved brass mounts, the trigger guard with stylised pineapple finial, and with replacement wooden ramrod (lacking its brass tip). GWO & C the barrel with dark patina. Plate 8 and front cover.
