Later he became assistant in the workshop of Thomas Tompion and in 1712 he moved from Devereux Court to a house between the two Temple Gates in Fleet Street and within two years was within Temple Bar. The case is in mostly good condition, with some loose mouldings to doors, one corner panel is lifting from door, some overall cracking to lacquer varnish on most planes of clock, movement appears clean and possibly professionally restored, bell strikes the hours when activated

1972 Covin 911 Evocation- c.1600 miles since body off rebuild in 2012, correctly registered as GPC Coupe- McQueen Slate Grey with Black 993 electric leather seats, Revolution wheels- 1600cc VW engine, Empi exhaust, twin Weber 34ict carburettorsThis most convincing looking evocation was subject to a body-off overhaul by a previous owner in 2012 including a new floor and tunnel, new shock absorbers, brake pipes, steering and suspension joints. Correctly registered as a GPC Coupe (Grand Performance Cars having taken over Covin) it has covered just c.1600 miles since. Finished in McQueen Slate Grey (resprayed 2011) with black leather interior, the car's specification includes: VW 1600cc air-cooled twin port engine breathing through 'new this year' twin Weber 34ict carburettors with CB Performance twin port inlets and balance pipe and new CSP bell crank carb linkage, electric fuel pump, sump plate, 'new this year' EMPI loud dual exhaust system plus manifold with extended stainless steel tailpipes, 993 black leather electric seats, Momo steering wheel, Porsche dials, 12v socket, electric windows, Sony stereo/CD, chrome dress up parts to engine bay, fire extinguisher etc. The headlining and carpets are described as "excellent" whilst the rare Revolution alloys are shod with matching tyres all round. Accompanied by a Swansea V5C and current MoT to 6 June 2018, it is said to turn heads wherever it goes.
1951 Crosley CD Four Hook & LadderOne of just four "Hook and Ladder" examples built by Overland Amusements of Lexington, Massachusetts between 1949 and 1952 for amusement park, tourist attraction and carnival usage, this novelty ride combines a Crosley CD Four Pickup with a custom-made fifth wheel `hook and ladder' trailer. The trailer features benches down both sides with wooden ladders hinging up and down to act as passenger restraints. Said to have been extensively restored whilst resident in a New Jersey museum for many years, it sports `Itty Bitty Fire Co' livery and a complement of fire-fighting equipment: extinguisher, hose, axe, bell, siren and lights etc. A guaranteed head turner and perhaps welcome at the likes of the Goodwood Revival, the `hook and ladder' is the only one of its kind outside of America. All four examples still exist and the last one to cross the block made$115,500 with Barrett Jackson in 2015! Founded by radio pioneer Powel Crosley, Crosley Motors Inc switched from two- to four-cylinder engines after WW2 adopting the innovative 44ci (722cc) CoBra (Copper Brazed) overhead camshaft unit which had proven its worth as a generator aboard PT boats and Boeing B17 Flying Fortresses. Evolving into the CIBA (Cast Iron Block Assembly) version for 1949, the OHC powerplant developed a quoted 26.5hp and 32.5lbft of torque and was allied to three-speed manual transmission. Current from late 1948 until Crosley closed its doors on July 3rd 1952, the CD Four could be had as a Sedan, Coupe, Convertible, Station Wagon, Pickup or Panel Truck. A Crosley won the first race at Sebring and famous owners included Humphrey Bogart and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The diminutive width of the Crosley at 48 inches is because they weren't sold through dealerships but department stores, and they had to get them through the doors!
1976 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce- First encountered by the vendor when he sold it to the first owner whilst working at Bell & Colvill - Current ownership since 2000 and warranted 52,000 miles from new- History file (including Bell & Colvill paperwork), MOT'd till June 2018Introduced in 1970 the second series of Alfa Romeo's iconic Spider Veloce was visually distinguished by a subtly revised grille, more raked windscreen, fashionable cut-off 'Kamm Tail' and new door handles. Designed and built by Pininfarina, the newcomer's two-door monocoque bodyshell incorporated the same sophisticated independent front suspension, five-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel disc brakes as its 'Duetto' predecessor. Initially powered by a 1779cc version of Alfa Romeo's jewel-like four-cylinder 'twin-cam' engine, the second series cars were upgraded to 1962cc during 1971. With a quoted 132bhp and 134lbft on tap, the 2000 Spider Veloce was reputedly capable of over 120mph. Great fun to drive, the model evolved through third and fourth series remaining in production until 1993.First encountering 'MPG 407P' when he sold it new whilst working at Bell & Colvill, the vendor was also responsible for supplying the Spider to a subsequent keeper before buying it back for his own use during 2000. Repainted shortly thereafter, the Alfa Romeo is warranted to have covered just 52,000 miles from new. Pleasingly retaining its original engine, 'MPG 407P' is described by the vendor as being in 'very good overall' condition. Offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, MOT certificate valid until June 2018 and history file (including Bell & Colvill paperwork).
1963 Ford Lotus Cortina- Quite possibly the earliest example on the road- Current ownership for the past twenty-four years and treated to an extensive, decade-long restoration- Runner-up at the Lotus Cortina national rally, Stratford-upon-Avon, 2017The Lotus Cortina is one of the most iconic of all fast Ford's, but good original specification ones are becoming ever-harder to find, which is what makes this particular pre-Airflow specimen particularly interesting. First registered in June 1963, it is believed to have been supplied ex-Cheshunt and is quite possibly the earliest example on the road. The subject of an extensive restoration over a 10 year period, '442 SJH' has remained within the same ownership for the last 24 years and features the correct period parts for a 1963 model, including: alloy bell housing, differential casing and body panels; A-frame rear suspension; and Black vinyl interior trim. The Lotus was runner-up at the Lotus Cortina national rally, Stratford-upon-Avon, 2017, and the vendor presently regards the bodywork, period correct White and Green paintwork, interior trim, 1558cc twin-cam engine and four-speed gearbox as all being in 'excellent' order. The car comes with original buff logbook and MOT to June 19th.Ford wished to race the MkI Cortina in Group 2, for which 1,000 'homologation specials' would be required. The obvious powerplant was the twin-cam version of the 'Kent' engine that Lotus's Colin Chapman developed for the Elan. A deal was struck and the Lotus Cortina was born. Homologation was granted in September '63 and the cars immediately showed potential. The following season Jim Clark won the British Saloon Car Championship in one and countless other laurels were accumulated in both racing and rallying. In addition to the aforementioned, the uprated specification included: close-ratio gearbox, shorter front suspension struts; trailing arms and coil springs with 'A' bracket at the rear; 5.5J steel wheels; front quarter bumpers; Lotus badges on the rear wings and right side of the radiator grille; new centre-console to house the remote control gear lever; different seats and facia; and a wood-rim steering wheel.

VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in fair condition, some scuffs and marks but no noted serious damage. includes pendulum and two weights.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Owen Owens, Llanerchymead, the hood having broken swan neck pediment above square aperture flanked by reeded pilasters, moulded arch waist door flanked by reeded quarter columns on a panelled base with stile feet. Painted 13" sq. face, having Arabic numerals, seconds dial and date aperture. Eight day two train movement with four baluster pillars, striking on one bell. Overall 220cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Includes two weights and pendulum, case in fair condition, board shrinkage to the base and sides of hood, but otherwise no serious damage. Minor wear and tear accepted.
19TH CENTURY OAK EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK marked: T.O.S. Wilson, London, having broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture, flanked by reeded columns, the waist with strap work frieze, pointed arch cross banded door flanked by quarter pilasters, panelled base on tall bracket feet. Arched brass face, 20" x 14", having gilded spandrels and silvered Roman chapter ring, particularly having sweep seconds hand, two train, eight day movement with four baluster columns, striking on one bell. Overall 2.33m.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: May be a marriage, case appears to have later additions, although appearing originally late Geogian, face movement probably Victorian, overall a little dry, the glazed door is cracked and will also need relocating, feet are later replacements. Has two weighs and a pendulum and also a key.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Thomas Evans, Aberdare, having moulded broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by reeded columns, cross banded and shaped waist door flanked by quarter reeded pillasters on a panelled base with canted angles and later platform support. Part painted face with Eastern scenes and architectural spandrels, Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture, eight day, two train movement striking on one bell. Face 18" x 12", clock overall 225cm high.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Case is sound and clean, there is a false plate between the base and the movement so possibly not originally together, pendulum and one weight.
18TH CENTURY OAK CASED, EIGHT DAY, LONG CASE CLOCK, having later added broken swan neck pediment with ball and spike finials over an original moulded cornice with square aperture flanked by gilt metal mounted columns, plain waist door with oval shell inlay, vertically boarded base on later bracket skirt. 10.5" brass face with gilded spandrels and Roman silvered chapter ring, seconds dial and date aperture, 10.5" sq., eight day, two train movement with five baluster pillars, striking on one bell. Originally 195cm high, now 218 including finial.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Good clean condition, appears to have been recently restored, the movement being very polished, pediment to hood with brass finials is an addition, as is the skirted base, chip to top left hand corner and bottom left hand corner of waist door, includes weights and pendulum. Four weights, including two replacements. dial plate dimensions: 27.5cm x 27.5cm approx.
MID 18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK CASED, THIRTY HOUR, LONG CASE CLOCK by Samuel Roberts of Llanfair, the hood with bird form broken arch pediment and ball and spike finials above a square aperture flanked by turned pillars, the waist with recessed, pointed arch door, within a cock beaded aperture, on a panelled base. 10" square brass face with foliate spandrels and Roman chapter ring around central field, engraved 155 Samuel Roberts, Llanfair, above single steel finger and arched date aperture. 30 hour movement striking on one bell. Brass faced pendulum, bob and single lead weight. 218cm high overall. (Note: Samuel Roberts, Llanfair Caereinion, Mid Wales, recorded as having died in 1800, lived at Pant y Tanws Farm, farmer and self taught clock maker. Most of his clocks appeared to be individually numbered. * See: Iorwerdd C. Peate, 'Clock and Watch Makers in Wales' page 72.)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Dusty and grubby with wear commensurate with age, moulding around the base is added and base panel to the front is split and has added moulding, but overall, in good condition. Birds with brass balls pediment looks to be an addition above cornice - added with screwed top. Movement has four baluster pillars and looks original. Door lock missing. Brass knob added. Good patination and colour. Weight and pendulum present. No key. Movement looks original and as it should be.

Two train drum movement striking on one bell and having repousse gilt metal pendulum. 51cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Some damage to the face which has been touched up a little bit, there are a couple of hair cracks notable, otherwise appearing complete, rather grubby, with wear and tear commensurate with age.

18th century Walnut long case clock by Francis Reynolds, Kensington, 12 inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter rings, cast brass spandrels and blue steel hand. Signed Francis Reynolds, Kensington in the silvered boss in the arch. The eight day movement has count wheel striking on a bell with anchor escapement, brass cased weights and brass pendulum. The case has a flat topped hood with pillars to the door and brass capitols. The door and base panel are veneered in burr walnut, the case mouldings are cross grained. Standing on a single plinth, date - Circa 1730, 224cm high Provenance - Purchased from the Clock Shop Weybridge in early 2000.

A 19th century single draw ivory and gilt metal eyeglass, early 19th century, with turned eyepiece above the bell shaped body, 6.8 cm closed, 9.5 cm fully open, and an ivory nickel plated expanding purse, 19th century, the lid carved with a single relief rose, concertina interior, diameter 5.7 cm (see illustration).
A 19th century rosewood cased carriage clock, the enamelled dial marked "Henry Marc Paris", two-train movement striking on a bell. Height excluding carrying handle 13.5 cm, width 11 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds on both trains. It appears to strike as it should when the hands are advanced. The case is in extremely good condition. The brass handle is a little tarnished. The front glass is in good condition, The side panels are in good order as is the brass work. The rear hinges and door handle are original and in good order. There is a hairline running from the centre of the dial across to the numeral three and other areas of the dial are very slightly discoloured.
A French Carrara marble and gilt metal mounted garniture de cheminee, late 19th century, with eight day movement chiming on a bell, the enamel dial with floral garlands signed for "E. Pierre" and with sun mask pendulum, flanked by four branch candelabra. Clock 43.5 cm, candelabra 35 cm (see illustration).
A Victoria & Albert Museum reproduction porcelain clock, lyre shape with sun, two-train movement striking on a bell. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and appears to be ticking away as it should. It strikes when advanced on both the hour and the half. The porcelain case appears to be in good order and we can see no any evidence of any issues.
Easton of Petworth, thirty hour wall clock with alarm, 18th century, the 15 cm square brass dial with Roman numerals and floral engraved spandrels chiming on a bell and supported on a stained beech bracket with matching glazed hood. CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion the case has been made to accommodate the movement. It is probably circa 1920. There is damage to the front left hand corner of the cornice where there are losses. There is a further detached section of moulding at the rear left hand corner of the cornice. Other than this the case is in generally good condition. The movement appears to be complete. Whilst we have not had the clock running when weight is applied to both trains the clock seems to operate and strike. We have the pendulum.
A Regency mahogany brass strung drop dial wall clock, with two-train spring driven movement striking on a bell. Case width 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good original condition. There are some minor blemishes but no significant losses. There are stress fractures to the left and right of the lenticle. The brass stringing is also lifting slightly on the right hand side. The bottom door hinges as it should. Unfortunately we do not have a pendulum. The movement winds on both trains and does tick away without the pendulum.
