Cuthbert's maternal grandfather George Fleming LEICESTER (1811-1887) 2nd Baron Tabley, assumed the family name WARREN in respect of a bequest from kinswoman Elizabeth WARREN-BULKELEY, viscountess Bulkeley. It is the 2nd Baron's grandfather Peter BYRNE (1732-1770), 4th Baronet Byrne of Nether Tabley, the son of John BYRNE (1705-1742) 3rd Baronet of Nether Tabley by Meriel LEICESTER heiress of Francis LEICESTER 3rd Baronet Tabley, who in 1755 married Catherine FLEMING (died 1786), who had in 1744 adopted the family name LEICESTER.
