A 19th century Black Forest Cuckoo bracket clock, with two train fusee type movement, with carved case and compete with key and pendulum. Height 39 cm, width 25 cm, depth 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock does not bear a Beha makers mark or indeed any other apparent marks to the back of the movement. The back of the clock case however bears a label for G & P Kuss & Co, Clock and Watchmakers, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. This clock would appear to have the original rear door. The movement winds on the right hand train when viewed from the front. The left hand train does appear to wind, there is no resistance but clearly some attention is required here. We have not had the movement running. We do have the key and pendulum but not the bell. The case is in generally reasonably good order with no significant losses. As we have not had the movement operating we do not know if the bellows work or the cuckoo itself.

CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the left hand train and seems to wind on the right although the gut has slipped from the barrel. We have the key weights and pendulum but have not had the clock ticking. The movement looks reasonably clean. The hood is in generally good condition. There is some veneer loss above the left hand pillar. The hood door is not warped. The trunk door is also not warped. The lock escutcheon is missing. The sides of the case and base are in generally good order. The front panel has a centre stress fracture and some minor discolouration. Part of the lower base plinth moulding is missing on the right hand side and on the right hand return. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
