A late 19th century French Boulle work Mantel Clock, the elaborate case with tortoiseshell veneer, brass inlay and gilt metal scroll mounts, embossed brass dial with enamel inset hour markers, glazed door and aperture, mask and sunburst pendulum, on foliate scroll cabriole supports, the 8-day movement striking on a bell, movement marked “G.H Paris” and “Just”, and “202352”, with pendulum and key, 41cm high.
Quentin Bell (British 1910-1996) Nude with towel, oil on board, signed lower right, dated 1973 verso, 38cm x 25cm, framed, woodworm damage to corners especially.Provenance:Consigned from a deceased estate, Mrs J B – a lady who lived about eight miles from Honiton; with her husband, they were a keen collectors of art.She became friends with the owner of the Lewes Gallery who sold Duncan Grant’s work, and subsequently, the owner of the gallery took Mrs J B to meet Duncan Grant.About a year after Duncan Grant’s death, his daughter, Angelica Garnett held an open day at Charleston; Mrs J B went to that open day and, from this early stage, became a ‘Friend’ of Charleston House.The picture has remained in Mrs J B’s home since its purchase. The sale has been arranged by the daughter and son of Mrs J B, following a probate valuation that Chilcotts carried out in July 2022.Purchased by the deceased, 1977, Southover Gallery.

A French mid 18th century style Lantern clock, bell strike, movement stamped "A:Lemaire, R.V.Dutemplc.121, Paris", having Roman numeral enamel chapter ring with enamel Arabic numeral outer minutes and enamel "1756" date cartouche below, the dial with cockeral above Fleur de Lys flanked by trumpeting cherubs, wooden case with applied gilt metal sides and bell above (redundant) with Roman centurion surmount, raised upon four supports, width at base 14.3cm x height 49.5cm.

An original WWII Second World War RAF Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund 1939-45 Victory bell. The bell cast from metal from German aircraft shot down over Britain. The handle with moulded 'V' for Victory on both sides and the casting depicting heads of wartime leaders Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin. Measures approx. 15cm. Clanger intact.

Early 20th century miniature French brass carriage clock with alarm striking on a bell,the white enamel dial with subsidiary alarm dial, H10cm The red Morocco carry case with Chinese characters to the interior. Condition Report: The clock and alarm squares were wound. Clock works and alarm mechanism appear to work. General surface to grime to brass. General wear to the leather with patch of loss to the doors. Silk to interior of carrier case is worn.
