A good early 18th century 8-day longcase clock, 12 x 16 inch arched brass dial, wheatear engraving to outer perimeter, applied, silvered chapter ring engraved for the maker James Beckett, Dover (listed by Loomes as working 1720 - 1721), seconds ring, cast spandrels and unusual crest to arch, matched steel hands, 8-day internal countwheel bell striking movement, 5 ringed and finned pillars, oak case has been carved later, retains shell inlay to trunk door, with key, pendulum and 2 cast-iron weights, 210cm tall.
A small Eastern style desk or mantel clock, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, signed M.D.Ger with hour and half-past strike on a bell, centre seconds indication and alarm function, the case flanked on four corners with columns, ball finials and surmounted by a dome and spire, having profuse decoration in multi-coloured champlevé enamel, side panels have enamel panels showing ladies in period costume, height 25cm.Clock case is in reasonable condition with some areas of enamel loss to the top of the dome where the finial screws down, damage to the bevelled glass at front bottom left hand corner, the clock does not run in that the time train winds but there is no activity in the escapement, balance wheels appears to move freely, the strike train operates when the hands are moved around and the alarm seems to function. The bell has become loose from the backplate of the movement but is just a press/friction fit. Clock will require a service for operation.
A late 19c French mantel clock, the two train movement rack striking on a gong and having a 5in diam white enamel convex dial with Roman numerals and fancy gilt hands. It is contained in a tortoiseshell bracket clock type case with bell top with carrying handle and four corner finials. The stepped base has a brass wheatear moulding and four turned brass feet. The sides of the case have glazed windows in cast brass frames. The clock stands 13in tall (handle raised).
A late 18c eight day longcase clock now with a 13in diam. circular brass dial signed R. Todd of Scarborough. the standard four pillar movement is rack striking on a bell and has anchor escapement. The later dial has been made up from an old chapter ring on a newer back plate. It is contained in an oak case, the hood having swan neck pediments with and eagle and ball finial between. Plain columns flank the hood door and the long trunk door is plain with a curved top. Plain quarter columns flank the trunk door and the plain base has a skirting plinth. The clock stands 82in tall overall.
An early 19c French mantel clock in ormolu Empire style case depicting a Greek soldier with his sword and shield. Th4e clock is mounted on a fluted column and the whole stand on a rectangular plinth decorated with weaponry and leaves. The movement has a silk pendulum suspension and the pendulum swings outside the rear of the case. The movement is countwheel striking on a bell and has a 3in diam white enamel dial with Roman numerals and moon hands. The clock stands 17in tall.
A late 19c lantern clock probably assembled by Richard et Cie in France using a German movement. The movement ting tang strikes on two bells (one above the case and one in the case) and the English dial lantern case is of brass with silvered chapter ring, pierced frets above the dial and a top bell held on straps above the case. The clock stands 16in tall.
A late 19c French Garniture de Cheminee comprising a clock and two candelabra in the Art Nouveau style. The clock is two train countwheel striking on a bell, the 3.5in diam. cream enamel dial having arabic numerals and floral designs behind and around them. It is mounted in a large bronzed spelter case of sinuous form with two female figures supporting the dial and curving foliage forming bases and feet. In a reserve between the front foot is an onyx panel. The four branch five sconce candelabra are of similar material and form and also have an onyx panel similarly placed. The clock stands 21in tall, candelabra 20in tall.
An early 19c eight day longcase clock, the movement now with a later Victorian brass dial bearing the name Thos. Scott Gainsborough. The 13in arched dial has cherub and crown spandrels and silvered chapter ring and dial centre. The movement is of four pillar construction and rack striking on a bell and has anchor escapement. The mahogany case has swan neck pediments to the hood, the unusual paterae having plums sprouting from them and there are three vases and eagle finials to the top. The dial is flanked by slim fluted pillars with Corinthian capitals and there is a panel of banded inlay below the dial. The trunk door has a triple arched top with boxwood line inlay to the edges and is flanked by fluted quarter columns with Cornithan capitals. The base has canted corners and a boxwood line inlaid to its edge and has bracket feet. The clock stands 90in tall overall.
A late 19c German bracket clock by Lenzkirch with Ting Tang movement striking on two gongs. The barrelled spring movement has anchor escapement and has an arched brass dial with foliate spandrels and Roman numerals and which is signed by the retailer Botly and Lewis of Reading. It is contained in a bell top bracket clock case in satinwood with burr veneers to the top and case sides. The case has canted corners which are fluted and reeded and the case sides have timber sound frets. The top of the case has a brass carrying handle and finials to the top corners and the base has brass bracket feet. The clock stands 16in tall overall.
