An early 18th Century walnut longcase clock by Obadiah Smith, Ratcliffe Highway, London, the 12ins arched brass dial with wide silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, matted dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, to the eight day two train five pillar movement striking on a bell, contained in walnut case with arched and moulded cornice and plain turned pillars to hood, arched trunk door veneered in matched figured walnut, plinth inlaid with herringbone banding with later moulded plinth base, 85ins high (plinth reduced in height and generally in need of restoration) Note: Obadiah Smith recorded as apprenticed 1718, member of the Clockmakers Company 1725
