A modern classic by Pininfarina, the simple yet elegant Spider bodywork that premiered on the 1966 Alfa Romeo Duetto would prove enduringly popular, lasting into the 1990s. All S3 2000 Alfa Romeos were produced left hand drive however a select few dealers such as Lombarda and Bell & Colvill used Ellisons of Hull to convert these prior to sale from new, with all UK S3 therefore missing a passengers side glovebox. The Pininfarina designed Alfa Romeo offered here was manufactured during 1985 and first registered in the UK on 6th August 1985 in right hand drive guise. Our vendor purchased the car in 2016 as a stalled project and set to work by fitting new outer sills and having the car fully repainted in Alfa Romeo Rosso. Whilst trying to keep as much originality as possible, the seats needed reconditioning and the car was also treated to a Quadrifoglio Verde front spoiler; a preferred option and deemed an improvement on the Series Three Aerodynamica chin spoiler. The vendor reports that mechanically the car is in great shape with recent replacement engine mounts and a rebuilt gearbox by Bob Dove racing in 2020. The suspension was also overhauled recently with all bushes and springs being replaced and it also boasts Koni shock absorbers all round, a new servo, starter and radiator. Our vendor has driven the car all over the UK, including trips to Scotland stating It's a great car for circumnavigating lochs and tracking coastlines and is very comfortable and capable over long distances. The service history, a thick A4 ring binder going back to the mid 80s, includes many receipts from Alfa Romeo specialists. The folder also contains previous log books and the vast majority of previous MOT's and the Certificato Di Origine from the Alfa Museum which shows the date of manufacture as 12th April 1985. With a current MoT valid until September 2022, this is a lovely package combining a capable driving experience with solid provenance and viewing is recommended.

Lot 146

During 1970, the Giulia 105 series Spider was updated in numerous areas. Most significantly, was the revision at the rear of the car. Gone was its roundtail look and in its place was the, aerodynamically more efficient, Wunibald Kamm- design. Other changes were not so easily spotted. The windscreen was more inclined leading to additional modifications. Adorning the front was a new heart shaped grille and revised bumpers. Several other detail changes were made before production changed to the Series III model in 1982.This example offered today was originally supplied to the US and was subsequently imported to the UK in 1990 where it was professionally converted to right hand drive by Alfa Romeo specialists, Bell and Colvill. Since then, the Veloce has been maintained regardless of cost. In 2015 it was treated to a new electronic ignition, replacement drivers side sills, and three-point seat belts. The suspension and brakes were both overhauled in 2019 with all parts being replaced or reconditioned where necessary. Acquired by the current vendor over two decades ago, the Alfa has been driven occasionally during his tenure completing circa 10,000 miles since being purchased.Presented in Pininfarina Bianco with contrasting black trim, this Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce looks very handsome and sits upon a set of Campagnolo alloy wheels shod with a set of correct style tyres. The interior is all in good order whilst the hood is presented very well. The Alfa will be driven to the sale (circa 150 miles) and comes complete with a sizeable history file, including the current UK V5 registration document, old MoT test records, various sundry invoices, and a MoT test certificate valid until February 2023. Looking handsome, this well-presented example is ready to be used and enjoyed immediately.
