AN OAK AND MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK CIRCA 1780, THOMAS READ, TARPORLEY The eight-day bell striking movement with 13inch arched dial, with moon-phase automaton and silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, signed Thos Read, Tarporley to the centre, the case of traditional 'North Country' form with fluted columns to the hood and quarter columns to the trunk 220cm high overall Condition Report: The case with marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use old splits and cracks, chips and losses, one piece of moulding missing to the apron above the plinth - this is missing in the catalogue image and has never been present at Dreweatts.The seat board is later pine, the tops of the cheeks also with an inset piece of later timber - the cheeks appear to be the right height, the movement and mask fill the hood and the arch, the sides of the cheeks are grooved and the hood has been sliding in and out here for a long time - there is no clear indications that the elements aren't original. They have had some repairs and restorations, the rear boards with numerous holes The case of North Country (Cheshire/Lancashire) type and certainly in keeping with the dial's area of manufactureThe freize with blue glass inserts, these have breaks and are possibly replacements in any caseThe movement has been cleaned, the gut strings replaced with wire, the bell looks like it might be a later replacement, there is a pendulum, two weights and a winding key all present. the dial with pitting and spotting, small loss to the black numeral on the II (2)Dreweatts haven't tested the movement and give no comments as to accuracy or longevity Please see additional images for visual reference to condition Condition Report Disclaimer

A Worcester 'Queen Charlotte' pattern teapot and cover, c.1765-75, blue 'fretted square' mark, the body of globular form and decorated with spiralling stripes in blue, red, puce and gilding, the cover modelled with a flower finial and green branch, 16cm high; together with a group of glassware, 19th century and later, to include: an oversized goblet with large bell shaped bowl, 20cm high, 13cm diameter; an oversized goblet with everted rim and faceted baluster stem, 13cm high, 11.5cm diameter; a thick-blown drinking glass with ogee bowl and plain stem, 9cm diameter; a small thick-blown goblet, 10cm high; a panelled water jug; two coupe glasses with amber stems and feet and gilded vine border to rim; two cranberry and clear glasses; a cranberry glass egg cup (A/F); a small vase with painted enamel bird decoration; two further drinking glasses; and five further pieces of cut glass (lot)Footnotes: Note: The decoration of the teapot in this lot is named after Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who visited the Worcester factory in 1788 with her husband King George III and purchased various wares, although she likely had no involvement with the design of the pattern, which takes inspiration from Japanese Arita porcelain. Condition Report: Queen Charlotte teapot: as can be seen from the online photograph, the finial of the cover has a metal repair, the petals of the flower with some minor losses. The exterior with some scratches to the paintwork across the body. The handle with some dirt and imperfections to the porcelain. The spout with some light wear to the gilding. The interior of the body with a small crack to the pouring holes, some dirt and imperfections to the porcelain, and a hairline crack emanating just below the base of the handle. The other cymbal with slight verdigris to the inside near the pierced holes, with general surface wear. Both pairs with tiny indentations to the extremities.The bell: The metal is tarnished, wear to the wood clapper, slight verdigris to the endless knot.

A French brass Egyptian Revival mantel clock, by Achille Brocot of Paris, 19th century, the case of architectural form surmounted by a sphinx, with garland drops flanking the dial, on four claw feet, numbered 4761 to reverse of base, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and fleur-de-lys and spear hands, the eight day movement striking on a bell, makers mark to backplate, 36cm high overall Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee the working order or time keeping of any timepiece. Condition Report: Currently ticking when wound. The hammer strikes the bell with a bright ring. The case in overall good condition - two of the brass feet are slightly loose, the brass overall in fair condition with some light marks and scratches throughout, some general surface dirt, the silvered dial and hands in good condition. There is a winding key with the lot.

A GEORGE III MAHOGANY DOUBLE FUSEE BRACKET CLOCK the bell top pediment above a glazed door with pierced sound frets enclosing a 7" arched brass dial with gilt spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with calendar aperture fronting an eight-day double fusee movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell, engraved backplate44cm highThe movement is original to the case, the movement is complete and ticks when wound but you cannot guarantee clock movements. The escapement has been altered to an anchor from the verge, the dial is clean having original silvering which is pitted and marked in areas. The case is in good condition, the inner masking has patched veneers around the edge of the movement, and the door locks to the front and rear are missing and have been patched with a later timber.

The case with dentil moulded cornice above fruitwood side pillars and a shaped base.38cm wide 50cm high The case is in good condition and original to movement, some wormholes to the frieze but not live and only a few. The dial is original to the movement and looks to have been re-silvered in recent years, the movement is complete with the original alarm mechanism and is in working order but may need a service. Comes with weights and pendulum.

The 6" gilt brass dial fitted winged cherub head spandrels with silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with calendar aperture above VI and signed mock pendulum aperture above, Strike/Not strike lever at 3 o'clock. The substantial twin fusee movement with six finned knopped pillars and anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell, fine scroll engraved and signed backplate with stylised dolphin to the centre. 32cm high not including handleThe case is in good original condition with minor splits in the veneer consistent with age. The glass in the front door is damaged. The movement is original to case and dial. The gut to the strike side of the movement is snapped, the escapement has been converted from verge to anchor and the pull quarter repeat work is missing. The movement will require attention.
