Macnally/ Londonderry, trunk with rectangular door, fluted canted angles 203cm high Charles MacNally was working in Ulster from c. 1820 signing both from Omagh and Londonderry, before migrating to Canada c. 1830 and settling down as a maker in York, Ontario (then still capital of Upper Canada). BY AND AFTER CHARLES DAVIDSON BELL, FRSE (1813-1882) PORTRAITS OF THE HON JOHN BARDWELL EBDEN OF EKELENBURG, RODENBOSCH, CAPE COLONY AND HIS WIFE ENID BELL SANDERS, NÉE HOPKINS TWO, LITHOGRAPHS 1849, OVAL, 24 X 18CM, A VICTORIAN PHOTOGRAPH OF A MINIATURE OF THEIR DAUGHTER MARTHA ANTOINETTE EBDEN AT ABOUT THE TIME OF HER MARRIAGE TO CHARLES DAVIDSON BELL AND A SMALL GROUP OF OTHER PRINTS AND PHOTOGRAPHS MAINLY OF MEMBERS OF THE BRODIE FAMILY. THE LITHOGRAPHS OF PENCIL DRAWINGS BY BELL WOULD APPEAR TO BE EXTREMELY RARE AND WERE PRESUMABLY PRINTED IN THE COLONY. CHARLES DAVIDSON BELL WAS THE FIRST SURVEYOR GENERAL IN THE CAPE COLONY AND AN ACCOMPLISHED ARTIST, WHO DESIGNED BY THE FAMOUS TRIANGULAR CAPE OF GOOD HOPE POSTAGE STAMPS. HE MARRIED, AS HIS FIRST WIFE, ON 3RD JUNE 1841 MARTHA ANTOINETTE EBDEN BY WHOM HE HAD THREE CHILDREN BEFORE DIVORCING HER IN 1850 ON THE GROUNDS OF HER ADULTERY WITH DR LESTOCK WILSON STEWART.

A George III domed bracket clock by James Duncan having painted dial with chime/silent lever, the mahogany case with brass fish-scale pierced fret work to front and sides, brass bracket feet and carry handle, the four pillar double fusee movement engraved "James Duncan Chancery Lane London".   Condition - Chiming does not stop when wound, chime/silent lever missing, bell cracked, cosmetic damage to case to include a chip to veneer on rear door, two repaired pieces to sides, pin currently holding hands on, no further damage, general wear to include minor marks and scratches, wear to gilt metal.   Dimensions:   height to top of case - 35cm height inc handle whilst handle laid flat - 37cm width - 28.5cm depth - 19.8cm dial diameter - 17.5cm
