A walnut eight-day longcase clock early 18th century the five finned pillar inside countwheel bell-striking movement with 12in square brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial ringed winding holes and foliate engraved calendar aperture to the matted centre within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes fleur de lys half hour markers and signed Luke Wise Reading to lower edge the angles with cast twin cherub and crown pattern spandrels now in a herringbone banded walnut case with ogee moulded cornice and blind fret frieze to hood above integral hood pillars and rectangular trunk door on conforming plinth base with moulded skirt 198cm high. Luke Wise is recorded in Baillie G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Reading 1686-1710 however Loomes records him as moving from London to Reading by 1691 and dying in 1735. An ebonised eight-day longcase clock early 18th century the five finned pillar outside countwheel bell-striking movement with 12in square brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial ringed winding holes and floral engraved calendar aperture to the matted centre within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes stylised sword hilt half hour markers and signed Lang: Bradley London to lower edge the angles with twin cherub and crown cast spandrels within wheat-ear engraved border the case with domed caddy and moulded cornice above foliate fret frieze and integral pilasters to hood long trunk door with lenticle on reduced plinth base with moulded skirt case part restored 227cm high overall. Langley Bradley is recorded in Baillie G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in London 1695-1738 the author describing him as A famous maker who made clocks for St Paul’s Cathedral London and was master of The Clockmakers Company 1726-38. An arabesque marquetry eight-day longcase clock early 18th century the five finned pillar inside countwheel bell-striking movement with 12in square brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial ringed winding holes and calendar aperture to the matted centre within an applied Roman numeral silvered chapter ring with stylised fleur de lys half hour markers and signed Windmills London to lower edge the angles with later Indian mask pattern spandrels within a wheat-ear engraved border now with a distressed case with moulded cornice above integral pilasters to the inlaid hood door with 43in trunk door profusely inlaid with Hoho bird inhabited stylised strapwork within repeating foliate surround the reduced base with conforming decoration 206cm high overall. As this clock is signed Windmills London it was almost certainly made after Thomas Windmills joined his father in partnership which according to Neale J.A. in his book Joseph & Thomas Windmills Clock and Watchmakers 1671-1737 was probably by 1702. Despite the case being in particularly distressed condition the marquetry is essentially intact with the exception of the lower portion of the plinth. From the collection of the late Mr J Morley

A Bagnall type Narrow Gauge 0-4-0 Tank Locomotive built in 5in gauge with copper boiler and fittings to include twin pressure gauges sight glass and regulator shut off cocks safety blower injector whistle clack blowdown valves and washout plug. Chassis details including twin outside cylinders mechanical lubricators injector feed pump brake gear water tank with drain pipes and valve. The model is finished in tan and black livery with polished brightwork hand rails and brass bell. No boiler history available. 94cm long

The model with copper boiler having J tubes normal fittings twin cylinder engine with cylinder head lubricators scotch cranks eccentric driven feed pump and stop cock twin spoked flywheels and twin direct coupled water pumps with change over lever water tanks suction and delivery hose. Chassis and body details include spoked wooden wheels with metal rims turning lock coal bunker drivers seat with brass rail to back box body with foot rest brake gear bell two branches and lamp backets. The model finished in red and black paintwork with brass plate inscribed ‘shand Mason & Co. Engineers London 36cm wide 56cm long
