Solomon Islands FDC 50th Anniv Guadalcanal Signed J Gibson Battle of Britain Plus 2 USA 7 8 92 Solomon Islands FDI on 50th Anniversary Guadalcanal Solomon Islands August 1942. Personally Signed by J A A Gibson 501 Sqn New Zealander Ace with 12 Victories in Hurricane. Battle of Britain Fighter Pilot. General Raymond Davis is a Past Assistant Commandant for the US Marine Corps. He fought on Guadalcanal and Peleliu in WW11 and later Vietnam. He received the Medal of Honor for his valour in the Chosen Reservoir Battle of Korean War. He remains one of the most decorated Marines of all Time. Colonel Jefferson J DeBlanc USMC Pilot Medal of Honor DFC Air Medals Purple Heart. In October 1942 ten days before VMF - 112 'Wolfpack' sailed for Solomon Islands to joined them. He entered combat 10 Nov 1942 with less than 10 hours in the F4F Wildcat. Member of Cactus Air Force. 31 Jan 1943 shot down 5 also shot down himself picked up by coast watchers network and returned 15 days later. for this action awarded Medal of Honor. Returned to the US in June 1943 as a fighter instructor. In 1944 returned to the Pacific with VMF-422 to the Marshal Islands. Details enclosed. Certified Copy no 24 of 44 issued by colin smith. AC20 V J Day Signed by Captain David McCampbell US Navy Ace 34 Victories. David McCampbell became a naval aviator in 1934 but it wasn't until 1944 that he flew combat missions from the carrier USS Essex One of only two Navy pilots to be awarded the Medal of Honour, Captain David McCampbell ended the war with 34 aircraft shot down plus another 21 destroyed on the ground. His score of 34 made him the highest scoring Navy 'Ace' and the third highest scoring US pilot of World War II. McCampbell also received the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Backstamped Cathay Pacific 15 Sep 85 Hong Kong. Vallis, Gloucester Regiment 1943; a 1939-1945 Defence Medal and faithful service medal for the special constabulary for Frank Vallis, and two long service bars for 1945 and 1954; together with a photograph album relating to and apparently collected by David Vallis (son of Frank Vallis), largely relating to RNAS World War II, David Vallis conducted his pilot training at Milltown runway, Scotland. A 1949 five pound banknote, serial no 65 008506 cashier P S.Beale, a Britannia one pound note, a ten shilling note, various Egyptian notes, also two worn wreck coins from the Association, a shilling and a sixpence dated 1696 with certificates, a boxed Lusitania iron medal and various nickel and bronze coinage some in wallets. (qty) NB - The Association was wrecked in October 1707 on Gilstone rock off the Scilly Isles and sank with the loss of Sir Clowdisley Shovell and over 1400 men. After 250 years the wreck was found by divers and coins and artefacts were recovered and sold by auction in 1969.

An F.A. international debut medal awarded to Tom Grosvenor of Birmingham City for the match England v Ireland played at Deepdale, Preston 4th October 1933, 14ct. gold, inscribed THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION, F.A. INTERNATIONAL, the edge inscribed E v.I., 1933-34, T. Grosvenor, with a 9ct Football League Medal relating to the same match and his three England caps and his number 8 England football shirt, also further ephemera to include photograph, menus and press cuttings. NB - Tom was born in Netherton and played for Stourbridge then Birmingham City. He was sold on to Sheffield Wednesday in 1936 for £2,500 and finished his professional career playing for Bolton Wanderers. He made three appearances for England in 1933, scoring twice. During this period players making their debut for England were given an option by the Football Association to receive a gold commemorative medal instead of their normal match fee.
