Notes: Pte Springett also served in the Machine Gun Corps with the service number 41992. He first entered the conflict on August 22nd 1914, and his medal index card confirms the trio as his full entitlement. Pte Springett additionally is entitled to the clasp and roses. Condition: generally good. The medal show minor signs of polishing, with each also being toned with age. The 1914 Star ribbon is a modern replacement, with the BWM and Victory medal being originals.
A WW1 1914 star trio, awarded to 4843 / 5093 Pte / Cpl James H. Jones of the 19th Hussars. To include: the 1914 Star, British War Medal, the Victory Medal, and a 19th Hussars cap badge. Notes: Cpl Jones appears to have two medal index cards, one for his 1914 star using the service number 4843, and another for the BWM and Victory medal using the service number 5093. His 1914 star MIC confirms that he is not entitled to the clasp. Information supplied by the vendor suggests that Pte Jones also served during the Boer War, and is entitled to the QSA with 5 clasps. Conditon: polishing to each of the trio. The ribbons would appear to be original, plus there is another set of original but very worn ribbons included. The cap badge has its slider to the reverse, which is marker marked for J.R.Gaunt London.

Both the plaque and card box are good. The outer paper envelope has bits torn from it, but it’s around 75% complete.
A WW1 1914 Star trio, awarded to 6227 Pte E.A.Pigrum of the 1st Dragoon Guards. To include: the 1914 Star (no clasp), British War Medal, and the Victory Medal. Notes: The trio is confirmed as Pte Pigrum’s full entitlement, and it would seem that he is not entitle to the clasp for the star. He first entered the war in France on October 8th 1914 as part of the 1st Dragoon Guards. He would later transfer to the Machine Gun Guards on January 1st 1915. Condition: very good. The medals have toned with age, but are in good condition. All three ribbons are later replacements.
A pair of French WWI Binoculars in a mismatched British WW1 leather case. To include: Binoculars marked with an arrow and MG (Ministere de la Guerre). Leather bound body with blackened brass eye pieces, these marked ‘MKV SPL 62823’ The case is British issue, and with embossed markings to the lid, which read ‘Case No.3 Prismatic Binocular Mark II J.D.Watts & Co 1916’. The officer’s name is F.T. Blennerhassett R.F.A. Notes: Captain Blennerhassett of the Royal Field Artillery landed in France on September 21st 1917, he’d been commissioned on February 20th 1917. Capt Blennerhassett was a native of Balsall Common in Coventry, and he is entitled to the BWM and Victory Medal. The army lists suggests that he also served during WW2, with his having attained the rank of Lt Col in 1945. Condition: generally good. The leather case has a nice colour and patina, but there are some tiny old paint flecks to the lid. The belt loops and retaining lid strap are still present. The binoculars have some service wear, but would appear to operate as they should. The optics would appear to be clear. Please note: as the binocular and case are a mismatch, the lid doesn’t quite close properly.

He was Mentioned in Dispatches twice, and these are gazetted for 21/1/1919, and 3/6/1919. Condition: very good. Some toning and signs of polishing to the high points of the medals. A number of the ribbons appear to be replacements. The medal are loosely mounted (stapled) on to a card backing.

Condition: generally very good. Some toning to the medals, plus minor polishing to the detail. The ribbons would appear to be original, but have tape residue to the backs which has stiffened them somewhat.
A WW1 medal pair / Iraq GSM group, awarded to M-322391 Pte/A.Sjt James Robey of the Army Service Corps. To include: The British War Medal, Victory Medal, and General Service Medal with clasp for Iraq, and a base metal and enamel ASC mechanical transport sweetheart brooch. Notes: Pte Robey’s medal entitlement is confirmed on his medal index card, including his GSM with clasp. Condition: generally good. Each of the medals is loosely mounted on a card backing, using what appears to be their original ribbons. The medals have been cleaned, and the GSM has some marks to the obverse which suggest that an abrasive polish has been used in the past. There is a tiny amount if missing red enamel to the scroll on the sweetheart brooch.
A large collection of WW1 officers signatures, including Army, Navy, RFC / RAF, many being highly decorated and high ranking individuals. Highlights include, Lt Col Dudley Graham Johnson VC, CB, DSO & Bar, MC of the 24th Regiment / South Wales Borderers (VC won on November 4th 1918). Plus Lionel Warren de Vere Sadlier-Jackson CB, CMG, DSO & Bar, Lt Col Raymond Collishaw RNAS, Major General Sir Harold Ruggles-Brise who was mentioned in dispatches 5 times during the Boer War, Archibald Walter Buckle RN, Commander of the Anson Battalion and recommended for a VC, Arnold Nugent Strode Strode-Jackson CBE DSO with 3 bars and also a Gold Medal Olympian (1500m) in the 1912 Olympics. Also, Captain Berwick Curtis RN CB CMG. DSO & Bar who was mentioned in dispatches at the Battle of Jutland. Robert Brooke-Popham RFC, who earned a DSO for the Battle of Neuve Chapelle. Scottish flying ace, Major William John Charles Kennedy Cochran DSO, MC & bar. Major J W Watkins MC DSO of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Lt Gen Ivor Maxse, a veteran of the Sudan campaign, the Boer War and WW1, also commander of the XVIII corps. Claude Congreave Dobson RN, who won a VC during the Russian Civil War. Interestingly there is also the signature of the well known Zulu War veteran, and one of very few British survivors of the Battle of Isandlwana, Horace Lockwood Smith Dorrien (1858-1930). Smith-Dorrien was a transport officer at Isandlwana when the British lines were overwhelmed by the vast numbers of Zulu Impis. He managed to flee the carnage on his pony, covering over 20 mile while being pursued by 20 Zulus. The collection is made up of loose signatures, and some letters, with the total numbering approximately 183 in total. Notes: all of the signatures were obtained circa 1919 by a Boy Scout named Archibald Gibson. It’s known that Archie wrote to many of the heroes of WW1, including many VC winners, and T.E.Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia, who’s signatures and letter have already been sold by ourselves. Only a small selection of the signatures are shown in the images. Condition: generally good. Some age related wear / browning to some, but on the whole very good. Some of the signatures would appear to have been pasted in an album in the past, but they seem to have been cleanly removed.
