A Georg Jensen silver cactus pattern serving fork marked with maker's name and "Sterling Denmark", designer possibly Gundorph Albertus, length 20 cm, weight 84 g / 2.7 ozt approx Note: Gundorph Albertus joined Georg Jensen in 1911, he studied as a sculptor at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen and had worked as a silversmith in Munich and Paris. Albertus was well known throughout his career as a perfectionist and this lead to him receiving a gold medal at the World Exhibit in Paris in 1925 as well as the honor award in 1937.

LARGE ARCHIVE OF BATTLE OF BRITAIN PILOT DOUGLAS RICHARD TURLEY-GEORGE D.F.C, 54 SQUADRON. Large quantity of papers, photographs, certificates, etc, belonging to the late Turley-George, a Battle of Britain Pilot, Includes original photographs taken during the Battle of Britain, also items he used during his RAF career, ie flight check sheets. Interesting post war items, invitations, B of B Film memorabilia, Official booklets etc. A number signed or initialled by him. Large box full of material, (viewing strongly recommended). Born in Finchley, Middlesex on August 8th 1918, he joined the RAFVR in 1937. Joining the RAF on a short commission, he commenced training and when qualified was posted to The Test Flight at RAF Henlow. He arrived at 7 OUT, Hawarden on July 1st 1940. After converting to Spitfires, he joined 54 Squadron at Rochford on July 15th. He is credited as probably destroying two Bf 109’s over Margate on July 24th 1940, the next day however he had to make a crash landing at Sandwich after an aerial combat with several Bf 109’s, his Spitfire P9387 was written off but he remained unhurt. On August 12th 1940, his Spitfire R 6914 was badly shot up in an action against Luftwaffe Bf 109’s, this time he crashed at Denton, he was admitted to Canterbury hospital where he was treated for shrapnel wounds to his head and eye. After leaving hospital he was grounded for a period and sent on Navigation courses, finally being passed fit for aircrew duties in September 1941. In June 1942 he was a senior pilot on the Camship Empire Tide in the Russian bound convoy PQ17. The convoy was ordered to scatter due to intelligence reports that they were to be attacked by German battle ships. After the order to scatter came through, they did come under relentless attack from dive bombers and torpedoes, out of the 42 ships that made up the convoy, 11 survived, including the Empire Tide. They finally reached Archangel on 24th July 1942. Turley-George continued to serve in various units throughout the war. During the Normandy campaign he was wounded during a ground assault sortie, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) on 3rd October 1940. He ended the war serving with a communications squadron in Norway. He was awarded the Norwegian medal of Liberation. Released from the RAF in 1949, he went on to be a test pilot for an aircraft company. Douglas Richard Turley-Geroge died in 1992.
WW2 GERMAN AFRIKA KORPS SOLDBUCH, issued to a NCO of the German Wehrmacht, 2/Inf Ers Btl 306. Uniform photograph to the front of the book. Well filled out example with entries and various stamps. Back of the book lists various awards including German / Italian Afrika campaign medal and Afrika armband. Good overall condition.
