WW1 Medal Pair and French Medal of Honour awarded to William Edward Woof. This gentleman was the Driver/Fireman destined for unknown fame when he was captured by photographer Charles E. Brown at Clapham Junction, leaning from his cab and looking down on a young boy carrying a tiny suitcase. The image was to become one of the most iconic Southern Railway Posters of all time "I`m Taking An Early Holiday Cos I Know Summer Comes Soonest In The South`. Along with the medals are a further three badges that belonged to this man:- WW2 War Service Badge; a `For Loyal Service` badge; Salonika Reunion Association 1915 - 19 enamel badge. Also, the original, framed & glazed certificate issued with the French Medal of Honour and a few photographs of the individual and a small copy of the poster itself. A quite significant artefact of our railway history.

Warner including 1914 Gift to the troops box, badges, Small Arms prize medallion, two albums of related postcards, an album of the First Battalion Prince of Wales own (West Yorkshire Regiment) Rawal Pindi 1910, two books on the West Yorkshire Regiment 1914/18 etc.
