A late 19th century medal group awarded to Lt-Col Richard Pratt Bond, compriasing Khedive's Star 1884-6, Egypt Medal with Nile 1884-85 and Gemaizah bars, and South African medal with Belmont, Madder River, Paardeberg and Driefontein bars. Following his South African service Bond became Assistant House Surgeon at Shropshire Infirmary before becoming Senior Registrar at Royal Free Hospital then to King's College Hospital where he served under Joseph Lister. At the outbreak of WW1 he was re-employed as A.D.M.S. at home. The lot is offered with supporting documents and a black and white photograph.

Condition Report: The medal has become detached from the ribbon fastening, small holes to the reverse side of the ribbon. Pipe mouthpiece chipped at the end and worn.

Lt Col Eric Wilson VC (1912 - 2008) signed Christmas 1914 Truce in the Trenches cover. Wilson won the Victoria Cross in 1940 in Somaliland with the East Surrey Regiment of the British Army. At the time of his death in 2008 Wilson was the last surviving British Army recipient of the Victoria Cross from WWII. His medal is now on display as part of the famous Lord Ashcroft gallery at the Imperial War Museum in London. Good condition. All signed items come with Certificate of Authenticity.
