WW2 Prisoner of War Casualty Medal Grouping Awarded to Private Leonard Harry Farr 2/7th Battalion Queens (West Surrey) Regiment, being a boxed set of campaign stars consisting of 1939-45 star, Africa star, Italy star, Defence medal and 1939-45 war medal. Medals come with the forwarding box and condolence slip with his typed name. Accompanying the medals are a number of items of paperwork relating to his brothers service. 6092817 Private L H Farr died on 26th February 1945 and is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany. This cemetery mainly consists of graves of allied airman killed over Germany, however it does have the graves of executed prisoners of war and those who died on the long forced death marches across Germany towards the end of the war.

Archive housed in a red leather bound book. Some photographs are loose. Colonel Dodkins contributed to most of the early publications on awards and decorations of Germany.

Interesting Grouping Of Photographs and Documents Compiled by Philip Henry Rogers Royal Navy in the Far East Circa 1900-1914, including black and white personal photographs on board ship, in towns, locals, harbour scenes etc. A number of the images are captioned detailing where the image was taken etc. Areas include Queens Road, Hong Kong. Also the original owners medal ribbons for WW1 service, 1914 Princess Mary Christmas card and remains of a cigarette packet from a 1914 Princess Mary tin. Images are all stuck on to loose pages. Polish Internees in Switzerland Medal, silver medal awarded for Polish troops who were interned in Switzerland. Obverse of the medal has profile of Bronislaw Prugar-Ketling and NOEL DES INTERNES EN SUISSE 1942. Reverse of the medal has Polish eagle to the centre and BOZE NARODZENIE W SZWAJCARDII DSP. Medal has a pale blue ribbon and remains in good condition.** The Polish Army in France served with distinction during the fall of France campaign. A large section of Polish troops were surrounded by German forces but managed to break through to neutral Switzerland where the men were interned for the duration of the War. Many men however escaped and managed to join up with the Free Polish forces in France and later United Kingdom.
Polish Virtuti Militari Medal Awarded to Monte Cassino Casualty Captain Waclow Buyko, pre-war 5th class medal with gilt and enamel centre. The medal is numbered on the reverse 10034. Medal is complete with its original ribbon and remains in good condition.** Captain Waclow Buyko served with the 13th Rifle Battalion of the 5th Kresowa division. Buyko was killed in action on 17th May 1944 during the battle for Monte Cassino.

Paperwork in the grouping consists of Polish Army in the East driving license, two photographs, Legitymacja and two other items. Medals and badges are mounted onto a display card. Selection of Tunics Attributed to Captain Lachlan Gordon Duff Gordon Highlanders, Killed in Action 24th October 1914, consisting of short white mess tunic with gilt metal regimental buttons. Twist cord officers shoulder boards with three bullion rank pips. Medal ribbons for Boer War service; Two scarlet mess tunics with crimson lapel and yellow cuffs, three pairs of tartan trousers, officers dress waist belt with two piece regimental waist belt clasp, various other items of accoutrements. All housed in the original metal storage tin. Tunics remain in good overall condition. ** Captain Lachlan Gordon Duff, Gordon Highlanders, was born in January, 1880, and entered the Military College at Sandhurst 1898. A year later he was gazetted to the Gordon Highlanders, joining the 1st Battalion as 2nd Lieutenant. In January, 1900, he was promoted Lieutenant and had attained Captain's rank when he retired. On the outbreak of the first world war he at once rejoined his regiment and was killed in an engagement in the North of France on the 24th October 1914. During the South African War he saw a good deal of service and had both medals with clasps.

A couple of buttons missing and some moth damage to the battle dress.

The medal was awarded to 1956 3rd CL TPR D THOMSON S.A.C. WW1 British War medal and Allied Victory medal awarded for his service in the Royal Engineers, named correctly around the rim, 133482 SPR D THOMSON R.E. The medals come with South African Constabulary certificate of discharge. Medals remain in generally good condition.

Accompanied by 11 Iron Cross 2nd class medal ribbons, 20 later war un-issued Black Wound badges some with rusting marks, 7x unfinished Imperial cut out wound badges and a card of tunic buttons. German Cavalry Officers Summer Tunic being lightweight white four pocket tunic with golden yellow underlay shoulder boards. Silver aluminium pebbled buttons to the front, pockets and shoulder straps. Loops for pin back breast eagle to one side and loops for medal ribbon bar the other. Good overall condition.
Great War Medal & Paperwork Grouping of Private Rowland Leslie Hill Royal Army Medical Corps & Royal Berkshire Regiment, the medals consist of 1914-15 star trio named 36576 PTE R L HILL R.A.M.C. His dog tags which accompany the medals give the regimental number of 42036 and serving with the 7th Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment. A folder of original paperwork accompanies the medals and this includes pages from his original diary written during the Gallipoli campaign in 1915, the diary mentions actions against Turkish forces, being wounded in the knee, serving with the Australians and New Zealand forces (ANZAC) etc. Other items of paperwork include photographs, discharge papers, newspaper cuttings, returned great coat form, plus more. A typed account of Rowland Leslie Hills life accompanies the medals.
Adrien Etienne Gaudez (1845-1902). A patinated bronze study of young Mozart standing tuning his violin, on circular base, signed. A. Gaudez, 13.25in.Renowned sculptor of monuments, groups and busts, Gaudez was born on the 9th February 1845 in Lyon. He was a student of Joffrey and made his debut in the Paris Salon In 1864, winning a Third Class medal. His early career was interrupted while a prisoner of war at Madgeburg in Germany between 1870-1 and he later sculpted many monuments as a tribute to his fellow French soldiers. In 1881 he was awarded the Premiere Classe Medaille in the Paris Salon and in 1882 he entered the Salon de Beaux Arts. He went on to receive many "Hors Concours" awards for his numerous celebrated works.

A WWI and WWII medal group to Dresser Edwin John Robert Corin (1891-1976), comprising: 1914-15 Star; 1914-18 WM; 1914-19 VM, 1939-45 DM; Royal Norwegian Order of St Olav, crossed swords, gold and enamel; Order of Orange-Nassau, Knights Cross, military; and Pro Dania 1940-45, with miniatures, two additional WWII miniatures and a 1935 Borough of Bromley Jubilee medalNote: Corin served as a dresser on H.S. Letitia, a Donaldson Line liner requisitioned in 1914 and lost having gone aground in 1917 off Halifax, Nova Scotia. According to family oral history, he was a director (founder?) of Niroc Shipping Services Ltd (liquidated in 1976, the year of his death) and, in this position, worked for the Security Service (MI5) during WWII.
