Austrian Commemorative Medal, copper d.42mm: Francis I of Austria (formerly Francis II of the Holy Roman Empire) medal 1815 by Vassallo and Manfredini, EF. This probably relating to the foundation of the German Confederation with Francis I as first president. Francis suffered multiple defeats at the hands of Napoleon's armies, which caused the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. He allowed Napoleon to marry his daughter Marie Louise in an attempt at peace, but wars resumed after.

French Commemorative Medals & Plaques (5): Storming of the Bastille 1789 early thin bronze cliche by Andrieu d.71mm VF holed; Louis XVIII Constitution 1814 bronze medal d.40mm by Andrieu nEF a few marks and spots; Genius of the French thin bronze cliche by Montagny 1830 d.56.5mm GVF, knocks; World Peace Movement 1949-1979 bronze art medal d.67mm by Sindelar GEF in original case; and a cast bronze or other bronzed base metal high relief plaque 99mm of Maria Augusta Galliae et Navarre (Maria of Navarre 1338-1347) whereby the engraver has misunderstood the need to engrave the legend retrograde on the die to imprint the right way round, hence the legend is backward on the plaque. This of unknown age, but 'feels' 19th Century.
French Commemorative Medal, bronze d.59mm: Failed Assassination of Napoleon, (medal) by Luigi Manfredini of Milan; this we believe referring to the Plot of the rue Saint-Nicaise 1800, dated 'Anno III', year 3 of what exactly, perhaps his protectorate of Milan 1801/1802? nEF with some surface marks and a slightly adjusted edge.
