A late 18th Century Russian silvery metal medal of Catherine the Great by Carl Leberecht (1755-1827) and Johann Balthasar Gass, the obverse with shoulder-length portrait of Catherine II with laurel crown, the legend in Russian - "By the Grace of God Catherine II, Empress and Autocrat of all Russia", the reverse with double-headed Russian imperial eagle wearing medallion of St. George, its talons holding two maps of returned lands dated 1793 and 1772, with legend in Russian - "What Has Been Lost is Now Returned", the obverse signed "Carl Leberecht", the reverse IGB (Johann Balthasar Gass), 3.125ins diameter Note: This medal was struck to commemorate the partitioning of Polish territories and its acquisition by Russia

Fine Imperial Russian Fabergé gold table box of reeded rectangular form, with rounded corners, the lid inset with the Imperial Russian gold medal for Zeal (1st class), 29mm type, with bust of Tsar Nicholas II, surrounded by Russian inscription - 'By Grace of God Nicholas II Emperor and Autocrat of all Russia', the reverse with tied palm, oak and laurel branches and in Russian 'For Zeal', with white gold and diamond set thumb piece, bearing Fabergé mark and workmaster's mark for Henrik Wigstrom, 8.5cm wide x 6cm deep x 1.5cm high, in original fitted holly case with black printed Imperial eagle, Fabergé / St. Petersburg, Moscow mark to interior silk of lid. Provenance: By family repute given to the late vendor's husband who was a prominent Industrialist by the Shah of Iran as a gift. The Imperial Russian medal for Zeal was awarded for Meritorious Service to the Russian Government in times of War and Peace. It was awarded in four classes of which the 1st class in gold is the rarest
